APUA Says 12K Cable Maliciously Cut

10

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) says the police is investigating a severed electrical cable on the Friars Hill Road Rehabilitation Project work site.

The cable is valued at US$ 12 thousand.

APUA says at 8:40 am yesterday, an Electricity Crew discovered one of the cables used in the underground wiring was severed.

The 2,000 ft. cable was extended from the commercial complex opposite Caribbean Cinemas through to the Public Cemetery.

The APUA Electricity Business Unit estimates a delay of one (1) week in the underground wiring process due to the severed cable.

APUA is warning to offenders to cease and desist from the committal of malicious acts to the property of the Authority and the Road Rehabilitation Project.

APUA also solicits the assistance from the public in identifying these offenders and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.

  1. Wow it is sad. We the people and around the world have been complaining about the slow progress in the roads rehabilitation and now this. Lord help us. When caught need to be punish severely. The whip need to be brought back. Putting these offenders in prison is not working because most of them came out after serving time worst than they went in.

  2. ALP’s favourite excuse, ‘sabotage’ , seems like it is being used again to take some heat off them. I remember sometime ago when there was a similar power outage ‘epidemic’, they complained that people were throwing chains over high tension wires.

  3. Another red herring, is the mediation with that hot mess company over as yet? Like APUA wants another 12 months to give the com-rades more money. ANR please find out who is the good com-rades contracted on this road program follow the Cuban Cigar.

  4. I doubt the Government would make a story like this up so that they can gain ONE WEEK. Sounds to me like it may be true.

  5. OH Please. That cable was just there on the side of the road. Carelessness. Anyone driving up the road earlier this week could see that cable just laying there. U sure somebody na drive over the cable ?

  6. Someone is to benefit from this
