APUA Announces Utility Amnesty Programme
The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) advises the public of the implementation of a Utility Amnesty Programme for residential customers whose services have been disconnected for 180 days or more. This initiative follows a Cabinet decision taken in April 2026 by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, aimed at providing customers with an opportunity to restore access to essential utility services.
Residential customers whose electricity, water, or telephone services were disconnected on or before September 30, 2025, are eligible to apply for amnesty under this programme.

Applications will be processed at Customer Service at the APUA Business Centre on Independence Avenue and at the Village Walk location.
To complete the application process, customers are required to present:
• A valid government-issued identification
• Account number
• For tenants, a letter of permission from their landlord
The deadline to apply for the Utility Amnesty Programme is May 29, 2026. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to regularize their accounts and restore service.
For further information, customers may contact the APUA Customer Service team at (268) 480-7150 or email [email protected].

This will be a great re-set for folks who are genuinely struggling. All will benefit regardless of their political affiliation. Kudos to the ABLP government!
@FC
I call it BRIBERY.
Why only during election season? Why not intermittently throughout the year?
R U TINK people foolish like you LABORATS?
Bribery of the highest order. If Gaston Browne had any confidence in his stewardship he would not be engaging in all these give-a-ways to win an election a snap one at that, where you catch your opponents with their pants and panties down. This man knows he really cannot win when the playing field is even. THIS IS WHO YOU PROPLE CALL A TOP DOG. He is more like a scared WET FEMALE POODLE. It’s a damn SHAME
When the UPP promised school meal if elected that was bribery? What is the possibility of APUA getting payment from someone who has been disconnected for 6 months? Clearly this is a uncollectable debt. Seems to make good business sense to atleast bring them back on and have them going forward paying vs being focussed on trying to get blood from stone. APUA needs to seriously consider offering prepaid electricity as DOMLEC does in Dominica from at least 2011
There isn’t another country in the entire Caribbean that is more insulted than Antiguans and Barbudans by their Prime Minister. In normal times he is abusive and disrespectful, not caring what he says or does about all and sundry, but come election time he becomes Santa Claus, free gifts and money for anyone who wants, I believe even if he had to clean your poo poo he would do it. Power is all he craves
Make electricity free year round.
Tenman, didn’t the UPP deliver on that promise BIG TIME AT THAT and ABLP and Gaston frig um up. Never thought you were that short upstairs
@Faithful National #2 I get you are not smart enough to know that under UPP a payment was required (was not free) by parents, ABLP made it free. In addition we are now providing breakfast to in need children not just lunch. Fact iis UPP can’t do anything good but fail.
Just recently, the APUA workers marched from Cassada Gardens to their Headquarters on Independence Avenue and High Street, lead by their Union representatives, to get the attention of the APUA Management team and the Government Minister for a decision on a bargaining agreement of three years prior. The Authority was pushing back, citing that it couldn’t afford the increase. There was finally an agreement after the Lawless Leader told his subordinate Utilities Minister that the majority of employees are residents and voters from St. Philips North and a bi-election was imminent in a few weeks. How are they now able to forgive millions owed by defaulters ? Most of these delinquent customers are the same ones who received debt forgiveness during a previous election campaigning. According to the ALP, it is poised to win all seventeen parliamentary seats but it seems like it is willing to give the country away to do so.
