APUA Boss Esworth Martin Quits

Esworth-Martin

APUA General Manager Esworth Martin has resigned.

His resignation takes effect at the end of the year.

He served over two decades in the role.

Dissatisfaction among consumers, particularly related to water availability, has prompted this decision.

The utility company’s struggle to meet customer demands has led to widespread frustration.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne will appoint an interim general manager while a search is conducted to find a new one.

Browne hopes the new general manager will prioritize water access and work to improve the situation for all.

  1. Mr Martin Gaston clown is trying to use you as a scape goat and I think it’s time u break your silence , I don’t think u should let that idiot bring down your name and u just stay silent, the public know that the water crisis is much bigger than you but now they want to put the entire blame on u, they let the January elections past by and also the election in st Marys south, now they think it’s time to roll your head , and robin gets off scotch free , this is how I see it .

    • Stop making excuses for incompetence. The manager is responsible to ensure water is distributed fairly. The problem has been an ongoing issue . He cannot be blamed for water shortage but the issue at current is not water shortage but inadequate distribution. He clearly has no control over the issue and it reflects on his poor management skills. So yes if he cannot pinpoint the issue and manage the situation he should resign to make room for a competent manager. In addition, everyone who controls the valves should be reviewed and move out of that position. Unfortunately when you live in a small island many do not know how to separate the job role from their political persuasion. Weaponizing water because you hate the government is an evil act . It’s time to clean house at APUA water division. Martin resigned as a failure because he totally lost control of the water distribution situation. He should’ve quit long time . If you cannot manage get out the way . Disgraceful!

      • Mr Martin, I’ve had dealings with you over the years, and I have found you courteous, well mannered when having any issues with installation or lack of water flow. In addition, you always directed me to the right person for any other APUA matters.

Enjoy your break, your hands were tied by lack of investment by this current government.

I hope whoever replaces you, will be looking out for the paying customer. Cheers 🍻

  2. Esworth Martin should have been fired over a decade ago, he was just not compatible for the job, he’s a downright mistaken looser, worthless. But only because of political favours, like south mall.

    • Well they reap what they sow. When you stand for nothing you fall for anything.
Square pigs like one writer posted on Saturday about the new dr.Rhonda (and its not a mistake; literally SQUARE PIGS)

    • Darn ***. Can Mr.Martin and APUA workers be blamed if their employer failed to provide resources needed to enhance their work? We need to do more thinking before we talk. It’s a pity that professionalism allowed Mr.Martin et.al to ignore criticisms and bashing from those in authority instead of spreading their dirty linen in the public. We need to take politics out of this and see it for what it is, neglect by authorities.” Ole” pipe from since me grandparents born can’t give improved water service.

  3. He should have been gone. How can an organization get worse under your hand and you still have your job? I am happy to see him go.

  4. Ok,so he resigns. Now Mr. Martin, let the public know what’s going on. You served under Pussy Salad with all the shenanigans he came with. Rumor has it the monies from APUA are being funneled into NAMCO. The lunatic DAWG was blaming your people, accusing them of sabatage. Speak up man! Enquiring minds want to know.

  5. YEARS END? Get that guy gone now. 20 plus years? They must be really feeling the heat. APUA have a performance problem…nothing works due to lack of good leadership. Send him Packing.

  6. This is what happens to you when you please politicians and don’t do your work.

With all that is being said about them, not a peep. So sad.

Well, if dem want to take the ridicule, let them.

  7. Is there no culpability on Robin Yearwood’s involvement? He has been with the organization for decades too and but the water system is not going to affect his pocket like Power Generation does. Where is the present Minister in all this? Well listen for the next scapegoat.

    • They fraid Robin. Hands of a Harmonites!!!! This should lay squarely at the foot of Robin!!! But Hiram Abiff members tend to go Scott’s free!!!

  8. Just like we, run down the power generation division and then give it to the Hadeeds, let’s continue to run down water and then give it to them as well!!!! It’s really a travesty what has been allowed in this country. One family owns power generation. Just give them water and done or maybe it’s not lucrative enough.. Who allowed that to happen!!!

  9. The majority of u guys blaming Mr Martin, so what was robin yearwood’s function at apua , u loborites are a bunch of fu*k*ng idiots, real minions, kissing gaston clown ass .

  10. Mr. Martin has done yeoman service to APUA. There comes a time when even our best efforts are not sufficient. Water is essential to our well being as human beings. As leader of our nation our Prime Minister must lead our efforts in providing the nation with a steady source of water, electricity and telephones. We the people must support his efforts to ensure that this happens quickly.

  11. Who ever this John Brown is why don’t you research before bla bla now go and do a proper research of the situation then come back and apologize to the people

  12. This is more than Apua you work with what resources you have let the authorities advise you all on the amount of advice and recommendations came across their desk but we all know what this is by the way he was the first choice oh George I forgot the second

  13. Resign my foot! He is being made the sacrificial lamb for the government inability to solve the prolonged water crisis among other things.
Serve him right, He should have been fired since the last government when under his watch, technicians went to China to source generators, but they allowed the false narrative of old generators to be spread by the ALP operatives and said not a word.

  14. Woman on land , didn’t Mr Martin had to answer to pussy salad , so why Mr Martin getting all the blame , shouldn’t robin pussy salad yearwood be getting some the blame , it seems like u tec the jumby money and naym the jumby ham and turkey u stupid cu*t

  15. Sounds like he was pushed out. Resignation is the nice and cordial way to put it. The truth is he has presided over an entity that has failed to deliver in so many ways. Someone must be held responsible. The water division is tough to manage. Lack of adequate resources and manpower to really upgrade and improve the service. It is a tough job for anyone to manage.

  16. KNOW WHEN TO HOLD THEM,KNOW WHEN TO FOLD THEM.IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO LEAVE ON YOUR OWN TERMS,AT THE END OF THE YEAR.RETIREMENT IS A VERY GOOD THING AS LONG AS YOU PLANNED FOR IT. GOOD LUCK INTO THE FUTURE.YOU ANTIGUANS WHO ARE NOW COMPLAINING ABOUT THE WATER.YOU ARE ABOUT TO FIND OUT.WHEN THE WATER SYSTEM IS PRIVATIZED BY GASTON BROWNE.YOU WOULD BE PAYING THROUGH YOUR NOSTRILS.

    • Good luck with the fear mongering. The electricity is already essentially privatized since we purchase power from ACP and we cope. I think many would deal with paying a premium for water instead of being willing to pay for a service they CANNOT get. Whether Antiguans can afford it or not makes no difference because we are not getting water from APUA.
