The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) accounted for the power outage that affected the whole island on August 16, 2019, in a press release stating that the Antigua Power Company (APC) was responsible for the outage.

According to the press release, it was a mechanical failure at APC where the instrument which provides air to the plant failed causing all engines to trip offline.

APUA said, “Approximately 45 minutes after the outage occurred, the 23 (twenty-three) feeders were re-energized and power was restored to all affected customers. Technicians at APC have since sort to carry out repairs to the device which caused the outage and the power production at the plant has normalized.”

The APUA and APC both apologized for the inconvenience that the power outage has caused.

  1. Cannot understand how some people can defend companies that collude with cronies and ministers of GOVERNMENTS of the day to fleece the country of its finances through over priced PO/invoices. Where is the intelligence?
