Members of the Spanish community in Antigua will be meeting soon to discuss issues affecting them.

Alex Martimez, Leader of the Spanish community, told ANR that no date has been set for the meeting, but they are awaiting permission for the gathering.

He said he wants to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are observed at the meeting.

The planned meeting comes as the Spanish community grapples with the violent arrest of one of their members in the Tindale Road area Sunday night.

Speaking with ANR on Monday, Martinez condemned the actions of the police and called on members of the force to be more humane when dealing with residents.

  1. Are immigrants outsmarting the natives?…..They see the two main parties are at cut throat crossroads so this is the time to make demands. Not a bad strategy at all.

  2. So, he is not the leader. There is not such thing within the community. He lied to the politians in power to get favours.
