SOURCE: ABS- An Antiguan woman who had been missing for over three decades was reunited with her family on Tuesday in emotional scenes at VC Bird International Airport.

Denise Odelia Charles returned to Antigua after 32 years and five months in Venezuela.

She arrived shortly after 10am on a private charter arranged by the Venezuelan government.

Charles was greeted on the tarmac by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who facilitated her return. Also aboard the flight were her brother, Terrence Charles, and nephew, Tishorn Watson.

The Prime Minister described the reunion as an incredible outcome and praised the resilience of the family.

He said the case serves as a reminder for Antiguans and Barbudans to remain hopeful and positive.

Charles is expected to speak publicly in the coming weeks about the circumstances surrounding her prolonged absence.

  1. Who or what is stopping you? Please hurry and go. I do t understand why you people are always so quick to pull down Antigua & Barbuda. If you’re not happy with the government then running for election and make the necessary changes if/when you win.
Bench warmers are always loud and judgmental but can never get in the race.

  2. I trust that the Knight person will believe and acknowledge this positive outcome. According to him, he will bribed believe it even he sees it. All these pessimists around not giving credit where it is due.
Congratulations to her Potters family who has hoped for this day to come.
Thank God for the collaboration between PM Gaston Browne and Prez Maduro.
    Long live our diplomatic relationship.

  3. Stranger things have never happened in this neighbouring country of Antigua and Barbuda. From missing persons, theft of boats, ministers being murdered, to police brutality, surely this place is pregnant with issues. Let me get something straight. A woman left for Venezuela or wherever and never returned after this. Only to mysteriously arrive thirty-something years later. Is this a gimmick to give others false hope about our missing loved ones? How was she even found. Not unless she had lost memory. With phones and Whatsapp how you cannot connect your family. No man…come better than that

  4. AMMMMM. This is a fascinating story, weird, unbelievable, “I don’t get story”
I have so many questions. Did Denise have any specific reasons for returning after all those years? Was she being held against her will? What was her experience like in Venezuela that made her stay there for so long? Why didn’t she contact her people back home. What nonsense story is this, Antigua news? I know you guys are very skillful with getting behind the story. ANR I am sure you have the same questions like readers. What nonsense is this? I don’t recall even seeing a missing person. HAHAH. Im not moving on until I know the story

  5. This woman was never listed as a missing person, it’s only now after the prime minister cock and bull story about missing people, he turned up with this missing woman story in Venezuela.
How can someone living abroad for so long, having all their faculties together, never found it necessary to contact their families back here in Antigua. Was she really missing.in the true of missing ?
The prime minister is playing a game with the Antiguan public. The Scenario goes like this my people, she was in Venezuela and couldn’t afford the cost to return home, and had the Venezuelan Government contact the Antiguan Government, to get her back to Antigua, quite simple,
But the Prime Minister is now using this repatuation Scenario, to undermining the many clarion calls which are being made, by countless suffering Citizens, about their love ones whom has gone missing over the years.
It would not surprise me one bit, that Gaston Browne knew about the plight of this woman long ago by to he Venezuelan Government, before he made that senseless and insensitive remark, about the missing people.
Gaston Browne stupidity always confuses me. as he demonstrates his lack of empathy and care, for suffering people.

  6. It takes a Prime Minister with empathy and compassion for people to make it his personal business to call another head of state and ask him to facilitate the return of this woman and her family that went to meet her. And it takes a head of state also with compassion that decide to use his powers to use state resources to fly this family back to Antigua knowing that the USA may want to seize his plane just like they did the other day in Santa Domingo. I’m very glad for this story to end like this more then 30 year later. To God be the Glory.

That is why we know our PM is a blessed man. And who God Bless let no man curse.
Let the haters keep hating, God will deal with them.
Thank you Mr. Prime Minister. Your good deeds are never lost. Do Good unto All Men.

  7. MIA FOR 32 YRS ?? & SUPPOSEDLY NOT A WORD OF COMMUNICATION TO ANTIGUA FOR 32 YRS! ?? WITH ALL THOSE MEANS OF COMMUNICATION THAT EXISTS ?? & AFTER 32 (THIRTY TWO) YEARS SUDDENLY RETURNS TO ANTIGUA LOOKING SO HAPPY & UPBEAT ?? TALL MAN, SOMEBODY TRYNNA GIVE ME A 6 FOR A 9 HERE. THAT DONT SOUND LIKE NO MIA CASE TO ME, THAT SOUND LIKE A RUNAWAY!

  8. There are more questions than answers. Gaston can now make her our Ambassador to Venezuela. Where is Inspector Pompey? This MISSING PERSON bulletin would surely have come across his radar screen as a top CID Agent.

  9. Look I don’t care for politics, so my statement is not based on politics, just logics. How can someone be considered missing for so long in another country and never found their way to an embassy to say they want to go back home and all of a sudden thirty something years she is discovered lol. Hey whoever want to eat this story is your business, but I find it extremely funny and not plausible. Not unless she has mental issues, kidnapped or trafficked, but still wouldn’t she be homeless in Venezuela and frail or probably deceased long time, come on now the story is a fairytale. That woman probably willingly left Antigua and mek ah family in Venezuela and get tired and want to come back ah yard. I don’t buy this story but hey ah fuh she business lol

  10. Wether or not Gaston is looking to boost his image from the negative fallout he is been having, this woman is the right engagement, a drowning man will hold on to a straw, so all that Gaston cam do to boost his image he is following the advise, unlike upp chair person who knows it all, and is on a collision course.

  11. I cannot wait for mouth to open tory to jump out!!!!!
