On January 31, a tragic incident unfolded in front of the River Valley Park development in Canóvanas, leading to the loss of two lives.

The victims, identified as Alexandra Daniel Derlyn, 44 years old, originally from the island of Antigua, and an unidentified individual believed to be her partner, were mercilessly gunned down in an ambush that sent shockwaves through the community.

Alexandra Daniel Derlyn, known for her frequent trips to Puerto Rico for shopping purposes, tragically met her end alongside her companion in a white 2013 Kia Sportage, registered under a neighbor’s name in Ponce.

The circumstances surrounding the ownership of the vehicle remain under investigation, with authorities exploring any potential connections to the owner.

The fateful journey of the couple came to an abrupt end when their vehicle lost control amidst the barrage of gunfire, overturning in the process.

Scene investigators from the Institute of Forensic Sciences meticulously combed through the site, recovering over a hundred bullet casings from both rifles and pistols.

The extensive collection of bullet casings painted a grim picture of the intensity of the attack.

In addition to the grim discoveries at the scene, the investigation unearthed further concerning evidence.

Among the belongings of the victims were bags filled with household items, presumably purchased from nearby mega stores.

The precise destination of the couple remains unknown, as does the location where they spent the night prior to the incident. Furthermore, an identification bearing the name of José Espinal Barbosa, aged 52, was discovered, raising questions about its relevance to the case and its connection to the victims.

The investigation took a significant turn with the discovery of firearms, counterfeit documents, and large sums of money in suitcases aboard the bus.

These findings raised suspicions of the victims’ involvement in criminal activities or potential ties to drug cartels. Notably, the male victim, believed to be of Venezuelan origin, was under the scrutiny of federal agents for suspected connections to international drug trafficking, shedding light on a possible motive for the brutal attack.

The authorities are diligently pursuing leads in the case, leveraging security camera footage from the route and establishments frequented by the victims prior to the incident.

The cooperation of citizens is also sought, with avenues for providing information established through confidential police lines and social media channels.

The tragic double murder of Alexandra Daniel Derlyn and her companion has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice and provide closure to the grieving families.

  1. From the time I started reading and see the amount of rounds fired clearly shown that this was a drug move that went bad when who ever it was , go on a revenge shooting spree. The passengers onboard are suspected Venezuelan who were under the radar. Their documents were fake. It would be good to identify this Antiguan woman to know who her connection is. People Must choose who they associate themselves with. That is a very bad news

You just sound like a jealous person who was waiting on her downfall, waiting on your time to shine and post such a disgusting comment.

I’m so sorry to hear about her tragic end.
One must be very careful of who we hangout with, and what we get involved in.
Desobedience to God, greediness and the love of money is the root of alot/all evil.I hope she has find forgiveness from the our lord, being that she used to be a Christian. The scriptures doesn’t fail in Matthew 12:43-45 About a person becoming and doing things way worse than they used to do once they back slide from the truth of the Gospel. My full condolences to you Aneudy&Orquidia& you all”s mother.

  6. “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye” (Matthew 7:2-5).

“Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?” (James 4:11-12).
