Antiguan Woman Missing for Over 34 Years to Return Home from Venezuela

An Antiguan woman who had been missing for more than 34 years has been located in Venezuela and is set to return home on a private charter flight arranged with the assistance of the Venezuelan government.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne confirmed the development revealing that the Government of Antigua and Barbuda sponsored the woman’s family members to travel to Caracas to facilitate her repatriation.

He added that President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela had “benevolently authorized a private charter to fly her and family members back to Antigua” on Monday.

“God is good!” Browne wrote on his official Facebook page, celebrating the reunion.

The woman, whose name has not yet been made public, had reportedly been living undocumented in Venezuela for decades. According to reports from Antigua News Room, the long-lost family member was rediscovered after making contact with relatives through social media platforms. Prime Minister Browne personally spoke with her to confirm her identity and assess her situation.

The government has since worked alongside Venezuelan officials to coordinate her return, with travel assistance extended to accompanying relatives.

    How did she wind up in Venezuela? Was she there at will? Was there DNA testing?

  3. This story is so vague. Not so fast, she has a lot of explaining to do. Was she in prison, why did she leave Antigua in the first place? Are we sure she’s Antiguan?
    No man was she reported missing to the police, if so then who will reimburse us for the time and money we spent searching for her.

  12. What is the back story of that. How did we know she was in Venezuela all those years? Did she ever try to make contact with her family?
    How did she end up there? Was it a deal gone bad? Did she lose her memory?

  17. For 34yrs? I wonder how old was this female when she first went missing. Figure this out and her age back then might give us a picture on how it all started and her case of survival.
