A prominent public figure in Antigua and Barbuda is facing minor criminal charges from an incident a few years ago. Recently, a voice recording surfaced suggesting possible witness tampering.
The recording features a conversation between a female witness and a senior police officer, where the officer mentions that the defendant is willing to provide an “envelope” if she testifies.
While the officer emphasizes the need for truthful testimony, this could still be seen as witness tampering.
The witness rejected any monetary offer, insisting she would testify truthfully. Although the trial has ended, the case remains pending as the defense prepares no-case submissions, to which the prosecution is expected to respond.
