An Antiguan woman visiting London has told Antigua News Room of her terrifying ordeal based on her extremely close proximity to the London Bridge terror attack.

The woman asked not to be identified because she did not want to alarm family members.

She said her ordeal started while making her way back to the hotel on a taxi.

“The Uber had to take a detour because the road was totally blocked off with the police. People were screaming and running everywhere it was like total chaos, and we realized this could not be an accident, it had to be something of a bigger magnitude.”

The Antiguan woman, whose hotel is two minutes away from the London Bridge, said from her room window, hundreds of people could be seen running on the road screaming and crying.

She said she later went to the hotel lobby where hundreds of people were streaming in off the street.

“We asked what’s going on and they said there was a terrorist attack at the London Bridge which is two minutes away from our hotel,” she said.

More than one person has died after the incident involving a vehicle and stabbings in the London Bridge area, police have said.

Armed police responded to reports of a van hitting pedestrians on the bridge in central London.

The Met Police said officers were also at Borough Market nearby where they were responding to reports of stabbings in the restaurant and bar venue.

The Antiguan told us the stabbing incidents also happened in close proximity to her hotel.

She said police later evacuated the hotel.

“We stood up outside for quite a while. Everybody was like so nervous. But our hotel has a connection with another hotel and they brought us all here to take refuge for the night,” she said.
