On April 29, 2023, two standout students walked the stage at Embry-Riddle’s Aeronautical University (ERAU) commencement ceremony – Fabian Martin Sr. and Fabian Martin Jr. Father-son pair who each received Master of Business Administration in Aviation degrees.
Both hailed from the island of Antigua and are Alumnus of St. Joseph Academy.

The Father is also an alumnus of ERAU who previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management and Maintenance Safety.

His son, an alumnus of Vaughn College of Aeronautic previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management.

Fabian Sr. is an Aviation veteran at LIAT (1974) Ltd and Fabian Jr. is a maintenance technician for a large cargo operator in the United States.

“We both plan to take our experience and knowledge attained during the program at Embry-Riddle to an airline executive position,” Fabian Martin Sr. said.

His son’s goal is to eventually become a vice president of maintenance and engineering for a major airline.

Naturally competitive, father and son pair spoke almost every day during their graduate programs, but never about the contents of the courses being done.

This competitive spirit served as a motivator to them both.

“At the end of each semester, we assured each other that success was at hand,” Fabian Martin Sr. said.
“At the end of the program, I had a 4.0 GPA (Distinction) and my son had a 3.9 GPA, which I think was quite remarkable.”

  5. That is a beautiful event. It also assumes us that the future is bright and will not only consist of doom and gloom. Congratulations to father and son. You are an inspiration to all of us

  7. Congratulations that is a great example for our parents in these days of delinquency amount the youth. Congrats son for staying level headed a good son makes a father proud. Antigua Celébrate with you.
This also shows the type of committed employees LIAT 1974 had. Hence, a perfect record of no tragedy. LIAT should be still flying high in our shy’s as a highly subsidized transportation system. Although it was not profitable by itself ( so they say) it brought so much business to our islands. It transported our students to UWI, our social and cultural exchanges , it was our cargo transportation. We traveled on it for medical attention from the small island to Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad. We flew on LIAT to get our visas. Our connecting flights and don’t talk about bringing tourists on island hopping. LIAT did it all for the Caribbean people. We failed her as a people, our politicians flew up and down thd Caribbean, they, their families and friends on her wings and failed to pay. Today the entire region suffering because there is no LIAT. Hey West Indies Cricket is suffering and All regional sports as a result of us failing LIAT. Where they leaders don’t have a vision the people perish. Caribbean politicians are only going to feather their own nests. Greedy!

  8. @ Frankly Speaking you hit the nail squarely on the head…Go to the head of the class.

  9. Caribbean Airlines is poise to serve air passengers across the Caribbean. The politicians are too self centered and myopic to recognize and negotiate equitable trade agreements.
In the case of LIAT: “Teflon Gaston” needs to devise and additional ways to skim money. That’s why he is getting in bed with African scam artists. It’s not about saving a failed airline. It’s a device to siphon money. If any of you think it’s about providing reasonable priced and dependable air transportation across the Caribbean, or restoring Antigua and Barbuda proud aviation legacy; then I have a bridge to sell you going from Antigua to Barbuda.

  10. Teflon Gaston may be the worst among the worst; but the fact that Caricom cannot weight in on aviation transportation across the Caribbean speaks of their ineptitude.

  11. Great father/son achievement! Speaks volumes about good parenting: vision, commitment, mutual support, n drive. Unfortunately, our current leaders so full of themselves fail to create a developing educational n work environment for our youth. Don’t give up hope; in time to come, we will welcome you both back home to make ur expected contribution within the OECS. Best wishes!

  12. Congratulations to father and son, you both are credits to our nation.
    God blessings upon you both.

  13. congratulationd son and dad
