Antiguan Drag Racers Shine in Regional Meets

ST. John’s, Antigua – The Antigua and Barbuda Drag Racing Association (ABDRA) has been making waves in regional drag racing circuits, with their ambassador Jason Watty Marsh leading the charge.

The team recently participated in several meets across the Caribbean, showcasing their skill and prowess on the tracks.

In February, ABDRA made their mark at St Lucia’s Independence drag meet. Representing Antigua and Barbuda were six cars, including the impressive 45NYC soon-to-be-nationalized drag racer.

The lineup featured Kess Imports’ two Helter Skelters, Mario Mack’s Mitsubishi, Sani Pro’s Evo, Niko Antonio’s starlet Bam Bam, and Jason Thomas’s 240sx. The team performed exceptionally well, with Bam Bam and Mario Mack clinching victories in their respective classes.

Ambassador Jason Marsh also made a strong debut, posting impressive times of 8.8 and 8.9 in his first passes with Skelter.

More recently, the team traveled to Jamaica and St Vincent for intense racing weekends.

In Jamaica, Marsh Built, accompanied by seven other supporters, showcased their prowess with El Heffe (4-wheel drive Honda) and the Blue front-wheel-drive Honda.

The Blue car set a new Jamaican record for front-wheel-drive with a swift 8.9 run. El Heffe stole the spotlight with an impressive 7.71 pass, setting a new record for the track.

In St Vincent, Mario Mack’s Mitsubishi secured 2nd place in the 11 class, while Pressure Tercel, driven by Jaheim Simon, claimed 2nd place in the 14 class.

Antony Lake, known as Butta, faced a tough break-out in the 13 class but demonstrated the team’s competitive spirit.

ABDRA extends congratulations to the drivers and teams for their outstanding performance in regional competitions.

The association also invites the public to the North Sound International Raceway on 7th May for an electrifying event on Tension Tuesday.

ABDRA emphasizes the importance of safety and reminds everyone that racing on public roads is illegal, advocating for a secure environment for racing enthusiasts.
