Antiguan and Barbudan writer Joanne C. Hillhouse travels this week to Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, for the Sharjah International Book Fair.

The Fair, now in its 37th year, includes 11 days of author discussions, book signings, readings, and more. With 400 literary events, and an estimated 2,000,000 book lovers in attendance, it is reportedly one of the world’s largest.

Hillhouse was invited as part of the discussion panel on the global anthology New Daughters of Africa  which includes her story ‘Evening Ritual’.

Her co-panelists are New Daughters editor Margaret Busby and another celebrated UK author and editor, who is also featured in the anthology, Ellah Wakatama Allfrey. Hillhouse will also participate in a discussion on young adult literature with award winning science fiction writer Noura Al Noman; and is scheduled to visit a school while in Sharjah.
