Antiguan and Barbudan Cuisine: Harmonizing Modern and Traditional Cooking Techniques

As part of Black History Month celebrations in the UK, throughout the month of October, the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission Office in London hosted an event under the theme: “The Art of Living: Food for Thought.” This exclusive culinary masterclass featured chef Kareem Roberts, Great British Menu 2023 Contestant and Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Week 2024 Celebrity Guest Chef, alongside Miriam Samuel, a 90-year old author and renowned culinary creative, with many years of experience in the Caribbean food industry.

As masterful storytellers, both chefs discussed the flavors and traditions of Antiguan and Barbudan food, weaving narratives about their cultural heritage and personal experiences, with modern techniques and age-old wisdom. This unique culinary collaboration inspired taste buds by tapping into Kareem’s professional expertise and Miriam’s time-honored traditions.

The moderator of this exciting discussion was renowned Caribbean chef and celerity businessman, Levi Roots known for his “Reggae Reggae Sauce.” Since his television appearance in 2006, on ‘Dragon’s Den,’ Levi has been unstoppable, achieving unparalleled success and earning accolades from the government and various sectors of British society for his outstanding entrepreneurial accomplishments. More than 200 guests had the opportunity to delve into the world of gastronomy, discovering the perfect blend of innovative techniques and age-old traditions. They indulged in mouthwatering Antiguan and Barbudan dishes, courtesy of Touch of Class, making for an unforgettable experience.
