Members of the Antigua Yacht Club sailing team have departed for Martinique to represent Antigua and their club at the Caribbean Dinghy Championship scheduled for October 27 to 29.

The Caribbean Dinghy Championship (CDC) is a unique sailing event that allows teams from CSA-member islands to compete against one another in various one-design ‘dinghy’ sailboats.

Boat classes included in past CDC events are the Laser Radial, Laser Standard, Optimist, International 420, and Zoom 8.

The 2018 event introduced the 2-person RS Feva class.

The team members representing Antigua and Antigua Yacht Club are:

  1. Loraine Mitchell Gaillard – Dinghy Fleet Captain & Team Leader
  2. Rhone Kirby – Dinghy Instructor and Coach
  3. Emily Gaillard – Sailing 4.7 Laser (ILCA 4)
  4. Patrick Greensmith – Optimist
  5. Ozani Lafond – Laser Radial (ILCA 6)
  6. Shanoy Malone – Laser Standard (ILCA 7)

We wish the Antigua Yacht Club sailing team the best of luck in Martinique for the Caribbean Dinghy Championship. Enjoy the competition!
