Antigua University spots man applying for job with fake medical degrees

(CBS4) – The Colorado Medical Board has ordered a man to stop using a fake Colorado medical license which he has apparently been using in other countries to secure jobs as a medical lecturer and professor.

A CBS4 Investigation found the man, Osborne Embiruka Nyandiva, has also been passing off other fake diplomas and documents to portray himself as a doctor.

The forgeries were spotted by administrators at the University of Health Sciences Antigua where Nyandiva applied for a faculty job in February. He presented a lengthy resume of licenses and diplomas indicating he was a medical doctor specializing in pathology.

“He sent us his credentials, the font looked fake, the license itself looked very fake,” said Dr. Manuel Flores, Executive Vice- President For Academic Affairs at the university.

“Everything is very, very fake,” Flores told CBS4. The phony Colorado medical license was dated April 8, 2015, and authorized Nyandiva to practice medicine in the State of Colorado.

Flores then contacted Colorado medical authorities who investigated and determined Nyandiva “has never been licensed to practice medicine in the state of Colorado.”

State medical administrators issued a cease and desist order.

The Colorado Medical Board told CBS4 it is extremely rare for someone to forge a license and masquerade as a Colorado doctor.
They said it had only happened two other times since 2017.

CBS4 checked other credentials Nyandiva was using. One degree that was part of his resume was awarded to “her.” Another diploma came from a University in Australia which told CBS4 they never issued the document and had no record of Nyandiva.

Flores said Nyandiva’s charade puts real patients at risk.

“If you go for surgery, a biopsy and this person diagnoses you, you can die from this,” said Flores. “People like this should be doing something good for society and not trying to fake their ways into medical schools and doing this thing.”

CBS4 attempted to contact Nyandiva via multiple emails and other electronic means. He did not respond.

Lee Rasizer, Public Information Officer for the Colorado Medical Board, said a criminal investigation is being pursued.

  1. That damn fool needs to be hunted down and locked up. Congratulations to Antigua University for exposing this idiot.

    • Let’s unmask them all. Any fakes should be locked up. Let’s investigate and find out who is who.

  2. Nothing wrong with that. The **** Manager did the same thing and fool off UPP and ALP smaddy and them.

    • Port Kung Fu is this some kind of parable or am I to read **** Manager as**** MANAGER?

  3. Melchesidec just behave yourself. I hope you are not referring to the former Minister of Education with his double doctorate. In any case, he is not a medical doctor but a Ph.D and JD (juris doctor). However, I should add that he has not completed either since himself and Gaston Browne perpetrated the fraud on the people of Antigua and Barbuda during the 2014 election campaign. What hurts me most in all this Michael Browne had the gall to say that Dr. Eric Williams (one of the region’s foremost scholar) could not get into Howard University to pursue the double doctorate like him. Michael Browne needs to know that his double doctorate would be beneath Eric Williams and that Eric Williams left Oxford University in 1939 after completing his doctorate (out of which came his seminal work CAPITALISM and SLAVERY) and went straight to Howard University as a Professor (and not to do the double doctorate that he cannot complete after so many years). For that lie alone he should be banned from politics.

  4. I believe that there are more fake Doctors and fake professionals working in Antigua. Some of them have been deregistered in other countries because of Malpractice and they go to other countries with fake documents get jobs and big salaries. It needs stricter rules.

  5. Good catch! Please keep the vetting process very high.
This is very popular from Africans and Indians.

  6. Not only the African man is fake, but university health sciences Antigua is a big scam too! That university is not accredited and granting useless degrees- so they should know other fakes too…lol

    • How can they operate here without “accreditation”??? Are you sure? What does our accreditation council say about this??? Again, “Sensible”, do you know what you are saying. Is your statement factual or just trouble making???

      • @CErmle:There was a University in Grenada. It was not an Accredited School. It was moving from Grenada to Antigua some years ago.It was a Medical School.I wondered what became of that .

  7. That is nothing new to Antigua and Barbuda. We have a lot of people working in both private and government with fake documents, while the qualified leave hanging to dry.

  8. Only lazy people/institutions are fooled by these conmen. Always, request an official transcript directly from the university.
