Anticipating Tourist Surge, Tourism Minister Announces $4 Million Investment in Cordless Kiosks for 2024
Tourism Minister Max Fernandez unveiled ambitious plans for 2024, highlighting a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing the tourism experience.
The minister expressed the need to expedite the installation of cordless kiosks, emphasizing their significance in accommodating the surge of visitors anticipated for the year.
“Mr. Speaker, the other thing that we have planned for 2024 is that we have to get the cordless kiosks up and running,” declared Minister Fernandez.
“We’re working very closely with the minister for St John’s City East to ensure that we have everything in place. It is an expensive venture, I think it’s about 4 million US to install it, but it’s important for us to have it up when we are expecting an influx of visitors.”
The initiative aims to streamline and expedite the entry process for tourists and returning citizens alike.
Minister Fernandez highlighted the importance of having the cordless kiosks operational, especially with major events on the horizon.
“Now that’s really getting big. We have the SIDS conference, which is going to see thousands of persons coming in right after that. We have World Cup cricket, and we have our own people coming home for Christmas and New Years and so on that want to move through quickly because that is where things are going now,” he explained.
The cordless kiosks are expected to significantly reduce wait times and enhance the overall efficiency of the entry process at key points of entry.
With an eye on the future, the Tourism Minister stressed the urgency of having the system in place before the expected influx of visitors.

1: there are already kiosks at the airport for selected airlines
2: they don’t cost 4 million dollars
3: my great great great grandchildren will be paying for this government’s debts for the rest of their lives…
@Ninja…Which airline has kiosk in the arrival halls which is specifically what the minister is advising that the government will address? Kindly so advise since I havent travelled in years.
Poor and Antigua and it’s citizens for generations to come.
Huge borrowings again?!
It’s amazing how they spout huge sums/figures like they are nothing!
In the end, to the ordinary man they mean nothing but overinflated amounts for …
Woe be unto …
@Ninja.. these kiosk would be located in the arrivals hall of the VCBIA. It’s similar to the arrivals hall of Canada and the United States, where you no longer have to fill out a paper form and can even submit your information ahead of your arrival. This will usually speed up the process, and shorten the line.
Great move by the Government, hope this is not all talks, get it done!
