Antigua Rotary Club Awards Bursaries to UWI Five Islands Campus Students Pia Nichols and Lauria Lewis

Two students, Pia Nichols and Lauria Lewis from the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, were granted bursaries by the Antigua Rotary Club, totaling $10,000.

Hyram Forde, the Director of Administration, praised the Triple Helix model that supports universities through collaboration between the government, private sector, and academia.

He thanked the Rotary Club for being the first to contribute and emphasized the importance of stakeholder involvement in sustaining universities.

Michael Spencer, President of the Rotary Club, affirmed their commitment to community support and highlighted education’s role in progress. He praised the scholars for representing Antigua and Barbuda’s future and pledged ongoing support.

Dr. Rodgers announced plans for annual scholarships to aid financially needy students.

Fitzpatrick, a past recipient, shared how the award motivated him and encouraged perseverance among fellow students.
