The most recent reports received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) have revealed seven new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda as of Saturday 9th January 2021 at 6pm.

  1. The cases not gonna stop go up cause antigua people harden. I am 24 and I long to go out but I know it’s not really safe. Covid has no face but some people dont get that. People still going party on friars hill road almost every night, big jam after funeral and stupid enough to post them online. MBN.

    • You are too young to worry for yourself but need to keep your older family and friends safe. Mask, clean hands, and distance. Keep safe and create a bubble at home with your loved ones.

      • You are correct. One seat for one (not 2 or 3) by an open window? Sanitising gel by the door and a face covering. Regular wipe down with diluted bleach, lysol etc. Have a box next to the driver for tips from those that can afford it.

  2. But still a gross undercount of the true numbers.

I know lots of people who were sick in Antigua the past month. None of them tested for COVID and all returned to work after a couple of days at home for fear of losing jobs.

What do you think was going to happen when the incompetent corrupt government let in thousands of parole from high COVID areas for Christmas without testing or quarantining any of them?

  3. Oh No! The swanks and ‘septic tanks’ will be flying to the USA and UK for the vaccine now that numbers are increasing. No concern for Antiguans’ just their dodgy offshore bank accounts and bitcoin. Another runway full of private jets, departing this time. Their Covid spreading partying left behind for 2021. Furious.

  4. That 7 needs to be multiplied by 10. Then we’ll see the true reflection of what’s taking place in this little paradise.
The numbers are just not adding up…….

    • And I came up with about 3600 positive cases in Antigua

I’ll tell you how I did it. Looking at the numbers, Antigua is testing about 10% of the number they should be. So I adjusted for that. Also, adjusted for phenomenon of there always being a certain factor of undetected cases estimated at 5-10x the amount of known cases.

Accounting for all of those things I came up with just above 3600 positive cases in Antigua.

There’s no way to know what the actual numbers are but you can bet your bottom dollar that it’s several factors higher than 19.
