Antigua PM Stands Firm on ABEC Chairman Amid UPP Opposition
Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda is backing the government’s choice for Chairman of the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC), despite objections from the United Progressive Party (UPP).
Prime Minister Browne defended Thomas, highlighting his integrity and his decision to step down from previous roles as a sign of commitment to preserving the organizations’ reputations.
Browne asserted that Thomas was the most suitable candidate after careful consideration of all prospects.
Thomas succeeded former Chair John Jarvis, who passed away on January 15th.
The UPP raised concerns about Thomas’s past resignation from Caribbean Union Bank (CUB) and the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission.

Statement No.1
Prime Minister Browne defended Thomas, highlighting his integrity and his decision to step down from previous roles as a sign of commitment to preserving the organizations’ reputations.
Thomas resigned not because of his integrity but because of his lack of judgement at best, which caused him to be a Director of an international Ponzi-scheme.
Thomas resigned and went into hiding, with no public statement explaining how and why he was involved with Sam Bankman-Fried and FTX cryptocurrency exchange.
Only to be brought out by the man Gaston Browne who wishes for him to Chair the Commision; and which will ensure the election gets stolen again.
Is there no politically nonaligned person in Antigua and Barbuda as suitable to have such a role? Clearly the fix is in.
Mr. Thomas should run for P. M.
