Prime Minister Gaston Browne has rejected opposition claims that newly imposed U.S. visa restrictions on Antiguans and Barbudans are linked to the sale of the superyacht Alfa Nero, calling the assertions baseless and irresponsible.
Browne was responding to statements from the United Progressive Party, which has suggested the restrictions stem from legal disputes surrounding the vessel, seized and sold by the government amid Russia-related sanctions.
The United States is set to stop issuing visas to citizens of Antigua and Barbuda from Jan. 1, a move that has also affected Dominica and several other countries, prompting public concern and political debate.
Browne said the claims do not withstand scrutiny, noting that U.S. authorities were involved in and supportive of the process that led to the yacht’s sale. He argued that it would be illogical for Washington to retaliate over a matter in which it had cooperated.
The prime minister maintained that the visa decision is unrelated to the Alfa Nero and urged the public to disregard what he described as speculative and politically motivated narratives, as governments in the region continue to assess the broader implications of the U.S. move.

You forgot to mention that greencard and US citizenship for Antiguans and Barbudans are also on hold. At this time, none will be issued. ABLP incompetence really ruining my office. This remind me of when I asked the ABLP PM Gaston Browne for assistance in getting certain Antiguan government office to decide on my license application timely and he said to me and my family he cannot help. His decision to not do what the law says he can do was to ensure Antiguans and Barbudans, and Americans are not protected with crime and terrorism victim advocacy and benefits, and now his actions have caused Antiguans and Barbudans applications for greencard and US citizenship to all be placed on hold (no Antiguan and Barbudan will be issued any US immigration benefits, a recent addition to the US executive order, putting all such applications on hold). This ABLP PM Gaston Browne can truly ruin success for Antiguans and Barbudans.
These are the factors I personally believe has caused the US to stop issuing Visas to Antiguans and Barbudans.
1) Antigua government was warned about the flaws in its CIP program and danger it posed to the USA , European Union and Canada borders.
2) Prime Minister openly rebuking the US for the sanctions placed on Cuba and Venezuela during his UN speeches and our relationship with both.
3) Antigua relationship with China and again the PM singing praises openly to the Chinese.
4) His recent war of words with Trinidad PM during the time she was in full support of the US actions against Venezuela.
5) Our foreign ambassadors are a bunch of jokers. They are collecting super fat salaries on the back of tax payers. Living lavishly. The US ambassador is a big joke. He now showing where his allegiance is – GUYANA !!!!!!
Let’s see what the ambassador to England will do to stop the British from taking away our long enjoy visas free access, as a former colony.
5) the list goes on and has nothing to the with the UPP . If the UPP has such great influence at the White House is best they run the country.

I for one had also stated that Antigua will never be fully trusted again,on this forum over and over.
Many have heard me lambasted Allen Sanford on this forum over and over, why, because he is a big part of the US not trusting Antigua fully again.
So Antigua was supposed to run a tight ship after they captured Allen Sanford, and they failed miserably.
That’s why the US embassy will never,never come back to Antigua.
The US intelligence is one of the best in the world, and they are always watching, and not only did a few criminals slipped through the Antigua and Dominica CIP crack, someone big did, someone the US and EU was looking for badly.
So let that sink in.
The Black Southern Commander that came here in that meeting a few mouth ago probably told GB that as well, but by that time it was too late, the damage was done, and that’s why he resigned, because he wasn’t on board with the Trump sanctions/actions that were to come.
These things are as plain as daylight..they are not flukes, but we have a very one track minded PM, and his band of merry men are no different.
They got too comfortable and fat on the hog..that’s what happens when people gets rich and lazy.
And now, here we are, back to square one, because we got nothing for GB dumb loyalty to Maduro, and Trump and friends now know who stood against them.
