Antigua Owes Eleven Million Dollars To OECS Authority

The O.E.C.S. Finance Committee says the member-states all owe EC$45 million; Antigua owes EC$11 million dollars.
The committee was in Antigua yesterday to address the arrears owed by all the members, and by Antigua and Barbuda in particular.
A plan to amortize the debt was presented; Antigua and Barbuda is to pay $255,000 per month.
The government says that the Treasury made a payment to the Officials of the OECS on this day, and the Cabinet made a pledge to pay each month.
The government says that the OECS raised $31 million in project-financing in the past year. Staff costs stood at $15 million dollars.
There was some criticism of the cost of the fundraising relative to the cost of salaries and emoluments.
Meantime, the dormant O.E.C.S. Assembly will convene next month in Antigua

  1. Really ? Paying OECS ? To do what ? What have they done for the region ? Have not heard of one thing that was done ! Put your money else where !

  2. The Caribbean leadersis are in need of a lesson in discipline and patriotism.

The region will never be truly United and progress as a serious entity.

    Perception is everything…….

should slavery be blamed for this lack of commitment in 2020?
