The Lions Club of Antigua wants men to forgo shaving for the month of November best bald head shaver
The initiative is part of an awareness campaign said Lion Franklyn Maynard, President of Antigua Lions Club.
“The whole idea is to bring awareness of men’s mental health, men’s health of their prostate and testicles and just to get men moving”, Maynard told state media.
“Each man who doesn’t shave, he’s now allowed to become an ambassador of the program to answer the question, “Why are you not shaving, why are you not being your usual self?”, he added.
This year, the club celebrated its 51st anniversary and its week of activities culminated with a church service and awards ceremony on Sunday.
Club members also donated 105 food packages to the less privileged in communities across the country.
The recipients of the packages were selected with the help of community aid workers said Lion Desiree Edwards, 1st Vice President of Antigua Lions Club.
“Through, for example, the Ministry of Social Transformation, we’ve identified persons and once we have that list, we then will go and check to make sure that they are there and let them know that we are coming”, she said.
