The United Progressive Party (UPP) is urging the government to adopt a more innovative and substantial approach in acknowledging the remarkable feat of Team Antigua Island Girls.

The all-female rowing team recently completed a grueling 2,800-nautical mile journey across the Pacific Ocean, conquering the ‘world’s toughest row’ in an impressive 41 days, seven hours, and five minutes.

UPP spokesperson Damani Tabor emphasizes the need for tangible support, beyond mere national honors, to recognize their efforts and offset the significant costs incurred.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has offered $25,000 to bolster the girls’ commendable undertaking.

  1. rather than talk, why doesn’t the UPP raise some funds to assist the girls with their charity? These guys are so broke, all they do is go to some village shops and buy some sweeties and a few drinks and call that support of the small entrepreneurs.
That is why if you let these guys come anywhere close to the Treasury, they would plunder it dry.
