CABINT NOTES: The Cabinet then held a discussion on LIAT (2020) Ltd. and the successes made evident by the arrival on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, of two aircraft at the V.C. Bird International Airport, dispatched by Air Peace; they are intended to augment the LIAT (2020) fleet which is likely to have as many as 6 aircraft with which to start.

The Cabinet recalled the fair share of challenges which had to be overcome by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda in order to arrive at the point where the new airline is on the verge of taking to the skies.

The Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) is a few weeks away from granting the AOC (Air Operator Certificate) that will allow for the airplanes to commence commercial services in the marketplace.

The Cabinet repeated the Government’s offer of 32% compensation to former LIAT (1974) Ltd. employees, several of whom have not yet accepted the package.

The agreement is to pay up to EC$75,000 each, with government bonds, even plots of land and UWI Scholarships for their children or spouses, being computed into the value.

  1. Brown, shove your BS offer up your whole family’s Ass… you are insulting and disrespectful to the hard working people who kept Liat in the air for years.. GO TO HELL!

    • such a selfish individual that wants to keep people poor knowing he grew up in the ghetto and made a way so he should be happy to see people getting money also.

  2. This man is truly a bastard to backside..smdh. He struck a deal with Air Peace in record time, then fork out 80mil for a 30% share in no time at all, not even majority stakes, and now he took years later to come to this deal with the well deserving Lait workers?

What a barstud this man is.
How is it this man is not ousted out of office is beyond me, because he clearly doesn’t care about fellow Antiguan’s.

If that is not clear as daylight to y’all, there is something in the water in Antigua to backside.

Yes no politician or person on this earth is perfect, but when you have a heartless person dictating the policies of the people, then Antigua is salt to rarse under this man.

He’s steady giving away Antiguan’s money to other people instead of Antigua’s, who other nation in the Caribbean doing that?

Wake up people, wake to hell up.

    • The old LIAT is bankrupt now the new LIAT is about to commence operation you’re lamenting I guess you aren’t a business idealistic individual 💯✍️

  3. What effing nonsense is this??? People are starving, stressed and on the brink and this is the bullshit they offer???? I am owed a few hundred thousand in severance after working 30 plus years and you expect me to accept 25K along with land you haven’t even surveyed after 4 years?? I can’t nyam scholarships and at my age of 60 what will a BS scholarship do???? Nasty nasty uncaring Gaston Browne!!! Dogs!!

    • Paying severance may not be optional but if your company goes bankrupt, which law says you can go after the shareholders for any it? Shareholders are rarely liable, and even if they were why not go after Barbados and the other shareholders? Why only Antigua government? While I empathize with the former Liat workers, I think they are taking a stance which will not hold up in courts. If they have legal grounds for their demand, the union should take the government to court. I however will say that the government’s offer should be 100% cash.

  4. Who are we holding accountable for paying severance for the bankrupt airline. Are the Antiguan workers in solidarity with the rest of LIAT workers across the Caribbean.
Are the other Caribbean workers entitled to the 32% plus lands and bond offer….or just Antiguan citizens?
I would love to hear what the UNION IS ASKING FOR….WHAT IS THE EXPECTATION OF THE LIAT WORKERS….? 100%?
YOUR BEST SOLUTION IS FOUR YEARS IN THE FUTURE… ” FORWARD IN UNITY….ONWARDS TO VICTORY”
    WHAT’S YOUR THOUGHT?
