Antigua Distillery Limited has added a new product line in response to local and regional demand for hygiene products.
The English Harbour rum producers now make ‘NoVirus’: a surface cleaner and hand sanitizer, Antigua’s very own local line of sanitizing items.
The products are currently being exported to St Kitts and Nevis, Montserrat, Anguilla, St Martin, Barbados and Bermuda.
The company is also looking to launch a sprayable hand rub using a World Health Organization (WHO) approved formula.
“We have three different
versions of our sanitiser. We have a ‘no virus’ sanitiser which is the blue label, that is useful for your everyday cleaning – cleaning surfaces, counter tops, utensils etc.
“We recently launched our gel hand sanitiser which is the green label version with local aloe which should be used to sanitise hand and skin,” said the distillery’s master blender, Mario Wade.
The new WHO-approved product can be identified by its orange label under the same ‘no virus’ brand.
“That is equal to our gel sanitiser, except the consistency is different. Different people prefer different consistency, so we are trying to tackle both markets at the same time,” Wade said.
The products adhere to the WHO guidelines which includes the products being free of perfumes and fragrances.
Managing director Anthony Bento shared that he has big plans for production including producing ‘NoVirus’ in 1.75l plastic bottles and supplying sanitizers to school islandwide.
Prices for the regular size bottles range between $10 and $12.

In every disappointment comes a blessing and Behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining. Now if it was not for this Covid-19 pandemic that the nation found itself in, the distillery would not be producing these products which are essential items in ones home and can be used by everyone throughout the entire year, whether its a pandemic, epidemic or otherwise….. The pandemic has created new ideas and force persons to think outside of the box…..No longer does our nation need to stand on one foot
(Tourism) but can now begin to focus on products like the “No Virus” to bring in revenue to our GDP….
yes yes bring out more ideas pple forget that tourism crappo
Long live tourism!!!!!!!
Good stuff. I guess better late than never. Pity that this option was not availailable at the height of the coronavirus scare in A&B (February/March2020) when our unscrupulous business places were into price gouging big time. At least, hopefully, monies made from this initiative would remain here and not repatriated to distant lands.
Actually it was offered early, places like North Coast sold hand sanitizers produced by Antigua Distillery. They had large bottles for sale since March
Good stuff!! The pictures showing that it is a manual process. Hopefully the are get the equipment to automatically mix, fill, cap, and label so they can mass produce and distribute world wide.
