Antigua Cruise Port welcomed Valiant Lady of Virgin Voyages for her inaugural call on January 18, 2024.
Tourism representatives boarded the vessel at Heritage Quay to officially welcome Captain Justin Lawes and his crew. The Honourable Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Investment Charles Fernandez, Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer Colin James, and Antigua Cruise Port Officer-in-Charge Cynthia Jacobs- Browne were among the attendees who exchanged pleasantries and plaques with the captain.
Mrs. Jacobs- Browne said, “We are happy to have you here in Antigua. The country has great regard for the Virgin Group and to receive our first vessel from Virgin Voyages is an extension of our relationship.”
January has been a significant month for Antigua Cruise Port. Over the weekend, on January 13th, Arvia had her first turnaround call of the year while on January 14th, SeaDream II had her first homeporting operation with the company at the Nevis Street Pier.
This January is the company’s busiest month to date with 42 calls and 91,706 cruise passengers having visited the island by January 18th. The month will close with 76 calls and over 160,000 passenger arrivals.
