Cliff Darroux, a Dominican national residing in Antigua, faces charges for possessing and cultivating cannabis plants.

Antigua and Barbuda laws allow up to four weed plants per person, but Darroux had 41 plants at his home, weighing 40 pounds and valued at $80,000.
In court this week, Darroux was granted bail of $100,000, of which $10,000 must be paid in cash to the state.
He must surrender his Dominican passport, report to the nearest police station three times a week, and abide by bail conditions until his case concludes. His next hearing is scheduled for May 29.

Well, Antigua can leave Caricom, OECS, ECCA and all the other Caribbean organisations and return to being a colony of the UK or better yet they can join the European Union. What about begging to become the 52nd State of the USA……

Antigua would be better governed as a colony, no ifs or buts. Check the performances of colonies (Overseas Territories) against those of independent countries such as Antigua and Barbuda and see the difference. Incompetence and corruption are the order of the day; it’s standard fare in places like Antigua. One thing stands out though, where ex colonies beat their former colonizers hands down: their leaders know how to get rich quickly after coming into office and hold the reins of power. What has Antigua and Barbudans have to offer to join the EU? Absolutely nothing, zilch, NADA. It is an indigent outfit which has nothing to offer. Incidentally EU stands for European Union, repeat European. The USA wouldn’t want a beggarly state added to its Union.
