Antigua China Friendship Association hosts award ceremony for Beijing Winter Olympics Art Competition.

President of ACFA , H. E. Lady Williams congratulated the awardees for attaining second and third place in the international competition.  ” It is truly impressive that out of more than one thousand entries from eleven countries worldwide , Antigua produced six winning entries from its secondary schools“.

Patron of the Antigua and Barbuda China Friendship Association, H.E Sir Rodney Williams, also extended his congratulations to all the students who took part in the competition, and commended them on their excellent representation of Antigua and Barbuda.

Charge d’Affaires of The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wang Erdong gave brief remarks, emphasizing the continued people-to-people friendship between Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China.

The competition was organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries based in Beijing , in local partnership with the ACFA .

Vice President of ACFA , Ninette Benta , was also in attendance and  offered words of encouragement to the students, who earlier produced individual acceptance speech videos to be shown at the Beijing Awards . In addition to an explanation of their art, the students spoke  to the vast online and broadcast media audience of the beauty of the twin-island state.

Winning entries from Antigua and Barbuda were from Sapphire Percival (Sir Novelle Richards Academy ); Hope Lynch (Sir Novelle Richards Academy ); Coleen Jackson (Sir Novelle Richards Academy); Sanaa Reifer (Christ the King High School ); Joed Martin ( Antigua Gramlar School ); Annecia Frederick (St.John’s Lutheran ) and Michalia Irish (currently at Ashworth College ).
