Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Minister E.P. Chet Greene has condemned the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq that occurred on December 31st.

Foreign Minister Greene declared: “The Government of Antigua and Barbuda condemns the attack on the US Embassy in Iraq in the same way that we condemned the siege of the Mexican Embassy by Bolivian security forces in Bolivia in the week of December 21st”.

The Minister stated: “Antigua and Barbuda upholds the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations by which host governments are obliged to protect diplomatic missions and accredited diplomats against any intrusion or damage”.

“International peace and security are safeguarded only when nations uphold the principles of international law.  In this context, the attack on the U.S. Embassy is totally unacceptable as was the siege of the Mexican Embassy in Bolivia.  In both these cases, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda hold the perpetrators of these violations accountable for their actions and calls on the governments concerned to fulfil their duty under international law by preserving the security of Embassies and diplomats”.

Mister Greene added: As a small country, Antigua and Barbuda lives by international law and rules.  We will stand up and be counted, without fear or favour, wherever and whenever they are violated”.

  1. MIDDLE EAST FIRE – DIPLOMACY – MOTHER OF ALL STRATEGIES

    There is no ‘…Strategy’ like ‘…Diplomatic Strategy.’

    President Donald Trump appeared to have ignited ‘…an inextinguishable Middle East Fire.’

    Some countries would be drawn into it deliberately, ignorantly or coercively.

    Though not necessarily a ‘…combative ally,’ sure the President would like this reaction.

    With no Military Forces, ‘…Air Force; …Army or Navy,’ to lend ‘…combative support,’ Diplomacy is the ‘…Mother of all Strategies.’

    Not sure if regional people care if the ‘…Whole ah Baghdad bun down.’

    When a riotous situation started in Guyana, the Mighty Sparrow had no such worry, singing;
    ‘…I don’t care if the whole ah BG bun down…’ [BG War: 1966].

    However, he was concerned if a ‘…certain Hotel at Tiger Bay was bun down’ though.

    Most certainly, if the whole of Iraq burn down, it would not be ‘…putting many regional nations out the way,’ particularly if they have no’…Citizenship By Investment Programme (CIP)’ to worry about.
