A woman and her son managed to board an American Airlines flight without a boarding pass, only to be stopped during immigration in the US.
The incident occurred as they were being deported to Tortolla via Antigua.
This breach has sparked concerns about airport security checks.
An investigation is underway to determine how they bypassed flight attendants and boarded without proper documentation.
Authorities are taking the matter seriously to prevent such incidents in the future.

A serious and embarrassing breach. I don’t know that flight attendants are responsible for checking boarding pass.. My understanding of the process is that the airline representative usually collect the boarding pass at the gate just before boarding. I think that both security and airline personnel goofed.
First and foremost these things happen in cartoon countries. Antigua is the number one cartoon country in the Caribbean. Let us now discuss. The only way this can happen is if there is collusion at multiple levels. Ordinarily the sequence of things are as such. You check in down stairs, you then go up stairs and before you get to the immigration someone checks your passport and boarding pass. Thereafter you proceed to immigration and then passport and boarding pass are checked. If the person wa supposedly detained I guess these steps might not have been applicable. When the flight is to be boarded you present passport and boarding pass to the gate agent. When you are on the jet bridge security again ask that you show your boarding pass. So if all these checks and balances are in place how can such take place even if it was a case of some one being detained, without there being collusion.
I hope American airlines take this seriously. People need to be fired!!!!
So lemme get this straight
They are being deported from the USA to TORTOLLA ……so they land in Antigua BC BIRD airport from which they will continue onto tortolla final destination…….
OR
They reboarded the same aircraft going back to the US and was caught by the US IMMIGRATION
THEY were supposed to be escorted from the plane by security then security take them to a HOLDING ROOM till the flight to tortolla is ready
That Oman tried it she mean she nar go back tortolla
You a the only one that highlights and make some sense, News room talking about bypass Flight attendants, which is nonsense and this part about only to be stopped by US immigration, confusion to the max.
If they are being deported from the US to BVI via VC Bird, a boarding pass should’ve already been established in the US, so which country are they being deported from?
This ana LIAT, we are talking AMA, where before entering that aircraft a boarding pass is scanned or visible checked by an AMA associate.
We now have people talking about here comes Homeland Security, like this don’t happen in the US and where is Yearwood. Just the other day some one took a snapshot of someone’s boarding pass while standing in line and used it to get on a flight easily in the same US.
This look bad first thing USA IMMIGRATION gonna say this is why they have to keep coming here to INSIST THESE ANTIGUAN IMMIGRATION OFFICERS GETS THROUGHLY RETRAINED THAT WAS A BIG BREACH OF SECURITY
WHAT IF SHE HAD ATTACKED PASSENGERS OR FLIGHT STAFF / CREW
WHEN THEY LANDED IN ANTIGUA WHO TOOK THEM FROM THERE ….. WAS THAT PERSON PAID TO ASSIST SMUGGLING
HERE COMES HOMELAND SECURITY TO ANTIGUA…….. I HOPE DITZY KATRINA YEARWOOD CAN SAY WHAT HAPPENED THIS TIME CAS SHE ALWAYS CLUELESS
EITHER WAY
how tf can Katrina yearwood be responsible????
tf you expect her to say about something she know nothing of was she the flight attendant???
you sound so f@@@king retarded yow jus stop breathing
@ kmt, it is ignoramuses like you why we Antiguans are look on as political lightweights.
YOU HAVE MISSED A VERY VALID POINT!
What @ Homeland said and inferring to:
“I hope ditzy Katrina Yearwood can say what happened …”
Surely as the Head of our Immigration Department, Ms Yearwood must come out and explain how on earth this serious security breach took place; even if it is to say that sackings will take place or heads will roll.
This breach could have been terrorist related.
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YEARWOOD BEING SOME SORT OF FLIGHT ATTENDANT. HOW DAFT?
BTW, in the last 18-24 months Katrina Yearwood has been Missing In Action (MIA) when it comes to security breaches and illegals from Haiti, India and Africa that have gone into hiding in Antigua.
who’s the RETARD now @ kmt?
It looks like she was in transit.
Normally the US authorities take them right through. In this case i can assume that the US security also dropped the ball. I also noticed someone mentioned the flight attendants- flight attendants only look at passengers tickets to assist them to find their seats if they are having different finding. As rightly stated you line up at the gate and the airline reps.
check the boarding pass. Those are the same people that work at the check-in counters.
I have travelled all over the world for business and pleasure.A flight attendant has never checked my boarding passes. The only how they would get involved, with seating. If a passenger is sitting in the seat of another passenger. They are not at the gates. They would stand at the inside entrance of the Aircraft. While Aircraft is at the gate and greet passengers. It needs to be investigated properly. To see where the protocols were broken, not properly followed. What short cuts were taken to allow that to happen.I am happy it worked out the way it did.For it could have ended very dangerously.
This type of thing has happened a few times this year within the USA & from flights departing USA.
Also UK.
(If international newspapers & travel news are to be believed.)
So it’s not the lone instance of people boarding without correct documentation.
I hope Antigua is not scapegoat… & AA /TSA etc. pay similar attention to their own backyard.
Something is fishy with this story! AA is not a cattle-car…there is assigned seating!
Where did this woman and her son know where to sit so that they were not in someone else’s seats?
AA Flights leaving ANU for MIA have been 90-100% full. How did she know where to sit so as not to have been questioned as a duplicate seat assignment?
I call BS on this report.
There are assigned seating. However, you could look at a flight and see the available seats before boarding. If no one questions you, that’s it.
Why were they being deported back to Tortola via Antigua. Why not Puerto Rico, St.Thomas, or St. Croix, where flights to Tortola are more frequent than Antigua. Is seems like a case of Columbusism. Go south to reach north. Why bypass Tortola to go back. ICE authorities in the US dropped the ball on the first leg of this supposedly deportation. Now it seem like Antigua is now left to clean up that mess. On the other hand this could be a test to make sure that the immigration process in Antigua is up to par with SIDS a mere 8 weeks away. Come on airport security and immigration tie your shoes, pull up your socks, and tighten your belts. Let’s get this right.
