The government of Antigua and Barbuda and the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) are working towards improving the distribution of water starting this month.
APUA has reported there are currently 11 million gallons of water stored at the plants, which is 19 million less than what is required for all consumers to attain a 24-hour supply of water.
Therefore, APUA aims to resume the activity of the Ffryes Reverse Osmosis Plant by the end of next week and begin production of potable water in Barbuda using green technology.
Meanwhile, in commenting on specific areas of improvement, Hon. Melford Nicholas, Minister for Public Utilities, expresses, “The production of water is the first thing that we have to improve upon. We do not have enough water in production.
I am happy to say that by the end of this month, the second plant at Fort James will be commissioned.”
This second plant at Fort James that will be commissioned will lead to another 500,000 gallons of water being produced, ensuring Fort James supplies 1 million gallons of water.
He adds the ultrafiltration system is expected to be delivered in October of this year to enhance the consistency of water supply throughout the nation.

Before the election we lambasted the APUA Water Division for wanting to deliberately bring down the ABLP government by prolonging the water issue. After the election we now work with the very same water manager to solve the problems. I mean I do not get this. Why would I want to work with the same people I didn’t trust in the first place? If you want to make headway in this department, or in the entire APUA for that matter you need to set examples and let heads roll. Simple as that. Bring in fresh blood to tackle the issues. If you do not want to do so, bring a consultant from outside to work on your solutions. When the UPP had issues with the IRD they removed Gonsalves and brought in Mr. Raju Boddu as a consultant from the IMF/World Bank. Many businesspeople run helter-skelter as their files were being audited by Mr. Boddu. After he finished that exercise, he was then transferred to clean up the Customs Department to improve our revenue intake at the port. We all know the various issues that came to light. One even wants to link to the death of Mr. Christian to this. Boddu so much loved this country that he opted to stay here. Eventually he was given the post of Comptroller of Customs that usually is given to a local Antiguan and Barbudan. We need to go the same route with APUA. There is too much partisanship in the people that have to do their job without any bias to any political party. And the only way to get that done is to bring an outsider. Sad to say that, but it is the truth. Working with the same people and thinking and hoping you will get a better result is insanity on the part of the government. People at the top of APUA have ulterior motives.
My word man, stick to one topic nah!
You start off by mentioning the APUA water division, then you go off on a rambling tangent about consultancy; the IRD; the Customs Department; and even the death of Mr Christian. Phew Sidey!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you have the the signs of Dunning-Kruger.
For the unenlightened here are the delusional symptoms:
The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias, whereby people with low ability, expertise or relevant experience regarding a type of task or area of knowledge, they tend to OVERESTIMATE their ability of cognition.
See it day Sidey … you can thank me later 👌🏽
Sometimes I forget that my audience is not as far thinking as I am.
Try smoking some pot. A good spliff will take you on a high so you can follow me. 🙂
@Sideline
I don’t know about ulterior motives, but all that gibberish and accusations during the last election was just that, lies by the Labour Party to coverup their incompetence.
who blogging under FTS name?

Heard this BS before, and today won’t be the last I hear this either
You don’t understand, the millions these people in top management preside over leaving APUA to private power station deal give them immunity from been fired. There is no need to even have an electricity manager which should be made redundant cause APUA don’t produce electricity, only post planting to your house, these guys probably have great commendation from this rich private powerplant group in which st Phillips north MP has so ties to that says they are managing well, and by the way pipes a laid in areas where marijuana fields are not in housing areas and don’t forget Gaston get water wells drilled by APUA. So the priority is not the poor tax paying people of this country.

@sideline. You should go around and do a real survey with random Antiguans, just ask any and anyone, and ask them this question.
Did you know that the Government of Antigua was sending Antigua airways to Africa to pick up refugee’s and bring them back here?
Just ask that simple one question.
Now that’s a real conspiracy for you to follow and talk about.
Bwoi you are a real buffoon..smdh
And the promises continue. Water in 14 days; full water supply by Carnival; $200 million yearly; 35 failed projects; the list of failures is a mile long.
Lest we forget, this economic dunce, went to parliament early to put in place a law that no Statutory bord can have excess. Such a dangerous piece of legislation. He raped medical benefits of 27 million and refuses to repay; there are echoes that APUA ‘s money is being
fueled in the infamous NAMCO. Is it possible that this is the root cause of this country’s woes?
People, Gaston Browne has done absolutely nothing for Antigua and Barbuda. There are all kinds of sufferings here and this idiot speaks of paying external debts, snickering and calling people predators.
Antigua’ biggest problem is Gaston Browne. The quicker we rid ourselves of this scourge, the quicker the country can heal
” … Antigua’s biggest problem is Gaston Browne …”
@ Watching, I’ve been saying the same said thing about him; and once the country wakes up and recognises that he is stagnating our progression in Antigua (and especially the Barbudan’s) we’ll be fine.
Autochthonous Antiguans must realise that this man acts like an ABSENT parent, who doesn’t care whether we survive or not; and we must also stop making excuses for his continuous dereliction of care and duties to the nation as a whole.
They are so full of venom that they cannot even stay on the topic. This is a five-year marathon guys. Hope you can keep it up. Our Gaston Browne is not going anywhere anytime soon. And making statements that can easily be debunked is not smart. Cause even the Govenor of the Central Bank on his latest visit praised the government on the handling of the economy. And we are no in the Currency union the fastest growing economy. Our banks have the most liquidity and savings are up big time. $2billion. Now you can keep your head in the sand like an ostrich. No problem, life goes on with or without you. The country is moving on. Strong Tourism figures. And the prediction of the Central Bank Governor is that we may have caught up to pre pandemic levels by the end of this year.
“You should go around and do a real survey with random Antiguans”
LOL. How do you suggest I do that? By foot, donkey or camel.
I mean are you not aware that surveys are done by phone or social media?
Any way you can do your survey. We just had the biggest survey which is called the election on January 18, 2023. And guess who won? ABLP.
Some more advice for you Sidey.
If you want to make anything that you have written down more readable, why not try breaking it down into more “bite size” pieces by using more paragraphs and sentences that makes what you say more coherent and legible.
One liners can also work for you as well.
[See what I just did there?]
So to recap Sidey, when you are writing your long-winded diatribes, it will make more sense to other ANR readers if you make it more GRAMMATICAL, and then we will not want to run for our sick buckets in the future boss.
MIND YOU, IT’S NOT ALL BAD THOUGH, I THINK YOU’VE FOUND A CURE FOR ANYONE SUFFERING FROM INSOMNIA!
HEHE 😂😂😂 THERE’S SOME MORE UPP VENON FOR YOU …
