Antigua and Barbuda’s culinary talents are set to shine on the regional stage at this year’s Taste of the Caribbean, hosted by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) from November 18-20 at Florida International University’s Kovens Conference Center.
Celebrated as the Caribbean’s premier gastronomic showcase, this event brings together top chefs, pastry chefs, and bartenders in a spirited competition, complemented by educational sessions designed to enhance skills and strengthen hospitality businesses.
Representing Antigua and Barbuda this year are:
- Senior Chef: Ronald Wilson, Blue Waters Resort & Spa
- Junior Chef: Azarie Crump, Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute
- Pastry Chef: Britanya McLaren, Hermitage Bay
- Bartender: Altino Spencer, Boardwalk Casino
Vanessa Ledesma, CHTA’s CEO, highlighted the value of the event, stating, “Taste of the Caribbean is not just a showcase of our culinary talent but also an essential platform for professional growth.
This event enables food and beverage professionals to stay on top of trends, learn from industry leaders, and contribute to the global recognition of Caribbean cuisine.”
Alongside the culinary competition, Taste of the Caribbean will culminate in an awards ceremony honoring outstanding participants with titles like Caribbean Chef of the Year, Caribbean Junior Chef of the Year, and the coveted Caribbean National Team of the Year.
The event also coincides with CHIEF, the Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum, featuring discussions on sustainability, culinary tourism, and marketing innovation led by industry experts, including Amy Martin Ziegenfuss of Carnival Cruise Line and Carmen Portela of Fundación Amigos del Yunque.
