Antigua and Barbuda Well Positioned for the Return of US Embassy, says PM Browne

15

Prime Minister Gaston Browne expressed optimism that the United States Embassy will return to Antigua and Barbuda.

He believes the country’s efforts over the past nine years put them in a favorable position.

The US Embassy has expressed interest in establishing an embassy in two OECS countries, and PM Browne expects Antigua and Barbuda to be one of them.

While waiting for a formal announcement, he emphasized the previous embassy’s presence and ongoing negotiations.

The US Embassy had closed its offices in Antigua and Barbuda several years ago, but PM Browne remains hopeful for its return.

  1. The only reason the US might have an embassy here is because the Chinese have so much influence in Antigua and have built a Chinese embassy here larger than the Chinese embassy in Washington DC.

  2. Don’t be surprise if the US try to open back up the military base also . They have come to a conclusion ,the Chinese influence in the Caribbean and Africa is a serious thread .

  3. What are the chances? This man just runs his idiotic mouth without presenting facts. With the trafficking of 900 plus Africans, scandals can’t done with money laundering, can’t pay a man his money at Global Bank, what are the chances? Gaston Browne is the most corrupt leader in the Caribbean and the US wants an embassy here? Please.

  4. There is an office already here, but it’s only for US citizens. It’s for renewing passports and so forth.

We need one here. Absolutely awesome!

  5. @ Gaston

Lots of election pronouncements will be made to fool the people of St Marys South and Antigua that things are real good and dandy in the land. There was Daryl Matthew this morning on Twin FM LITERALLY CAMPAIGNING!!!

  6. That’s a bluff. Do you think Gaston really cares to have a U.S Embassy here? No criminal would ever welcome the Police in his home. Odebretch, remember?

  7. Look here Gassy…miss me with the buulls*t! You running your mouth again?
Check the post from @watching! On point!
Yes, it would be nice to have a US Embassy here…the one in Barbados is overworked, they handle many more applications than Trinidad…plus those Embassies are involved in communities within their countries. The US knows of your corruption here. They are fully aware that any money demanded by YOU for community projects will never get to the people. So run your mouth all you want. Until you and your corrupt government are VOTED OUT, rule out an Embassy. They are not the PRC.

  8. THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS ARE ALSO COMING SOON.IT WOULD SNOW ON BOGGY PEAK BEFORE THAT EMBASSY COMES BACK TO ANTIGUA.I WOULD BE GIVING MY GOOD FRIENDS IN CONGRESS A CALL AFTER THE HOLIDAY TO GET SOME INFO.YES,I DO HAVE FRIENDS SEATED IN THE CONGRESS OF THE USA.
