  1. Dear Hon Fernandez,
Kindly provide a detailed report of the first Royal Caribbean job fair.

The job seekers are interested in the real prospects of employment. And is not prepared to be duped..

Further your leader the PM continues to lament that their is a shortage of labour on the island. If indeed this is true, exactly what is the overall plan for the nation, when Royal Caribbean cuts into the scarce resources of the country?

    • I fall to see that there’s a shortage in labour when we can’t even get jobs when we try to get a job as an Antiguan in this country but foreigners would just come and get jobs in front of us Antiguan’s then come and say antiguans don’t want no work.

      • Antiguans are always quick to argue that ‘foreigners’ who migrate get preference for jobs. But, if you look at the types of jobs that ‘foreigners’ do, it’s the ones that entitled Antiguans reject. Jobs such as garbage collection, security, cleaning are populated by ‘foreigners’ because they understand that they are ‘foreigners’ and therefore value the money they earn regardless of how minimal the pay and demeaning the occupation may seem. Antiguans on the other hand want management level compensation for minimum wage jobs and even more so the entitlement causes them to work lazy. Then, when they are lectured on what is expected of them they get upset and most often times quit and remain jobless for long periods. I am a 20 year old with immigrant parents and I too myself find it hard to find a job that adds experience to to my future career. Instead of dragging around accepting the fate that jobs are scarce, I do every little thing I can to afford some sort of living. I’ve worked jobs with 12+ hours and have received less than $100. I know I’m being exploited but I rather have that than no money. So the next time you blame your unemployment on ‘foreigners’ just remember to value the job you get or else the ‘foreigners’ will.

        • I disagree you may not know this but the business community has moved away from Caribbean and Santo Domingo labour and has since embraced the Filipinos.

From living maids and carers, to baby sitters. The Executive positions such as accounting, Chef Executive secretary Executive assistant, administrative, middle and upper management
Yes the Filipinos are the new law income work force.

There are recruiting agencies in Antigua bring these people in to compete with the so call free movement people..

They are in housekeeping in the hotels they are all over but they quiet and unassuming perhaps that’s why Antiguans is yet to notice that their government is giving them the finger again.

    • I can’t comment for anyone else. My daughter was selected to work on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship and she absolutely loves it. She’s been awarded employee of the week various times and is now in Barcelona after starting off in LA. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone who’s looking for something challenging and new.
