On Friday 17th September 2021, Antigua and Barbuda will observe, “Telling People Good Things Day”.

On this day, the Community Development and Citizens Engagement Division(CD-CED) encourages everyone to tell someone something good.

The idea originated at the Coady International Institute located in Canada and has been observed on September 17th for the past fourteen (14) years each year.

This day was then adopted in Antigua and Barbuda facilitated by the Division within the Ministry of Social Transformation, Human Resource Development and The Blue Economy.

In this regard, the Community Development and Citizens Engagement Division (CD-CED) is therefore encouraging all participants to motivate someone: such as relatives, friends, co-workers and individuals in the community, by means of offering a positive word or quotation, empowering or uplifting someone.

The celebration of this day is suitable and timely especially now, as individuals battle with the effects of not only personal issues but also the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This gesture serves as means of recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of others, enabling them to feel loved and appreciated as they navigate through life’s daily challenges and situations: because “kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” (Mother Theresa).
