The system, now in its pilot phase, replaces traditional paper ED cards with a digital solution, allowing travelers to submit their information online at least 24 hours before arrival.
Once completed, they will receive a QR code for seamless check-ins and faster processing at Customs.
Initially proposed during the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce physical contact, the project faced delays due to integration challenges with existing Canadian Bank Notes (CBN) border technology and financial setbacks.
The system has undergone compatibility testing and received positive feedback from border agencies.
Originally slated for November, the launch was postponed to February.

This is a major step forward for Antigua and Barbuda! A paperless immigration system will streamline the process, reduce waiting times, and improve efficiency. It’s exciting to see how technology is making international travel smoother for everyone.
I love that Antigua and Barbuda is going paperless! Not only will this reduce paperwork and make immigration faster, but it’s also a fantastic move for sustainability. It’s great to see governments prioritizing both efficiency and environmental responsibility.
While the idea of a paperless immigration system is great, I hope there are adequate resources in place to ensure a smooth transition. For those who may not be familiar with digital processes, it’s important to offer support and guidance to avoid any hiccups.
