A final decision on selecting a firm to implement Electronic Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) Cards is expected soon, according to Technology Minister Melford Nicholas.
The Ministry of Information Technology will evaluate the proposals and provide a recommendation to Cabinet within a week.
Cabinet has reviewed presentations from three firms over recent weeks, focusing on capabilities such as enhanced marketing, research, and identification tools. Key stakeholders, including Customs, Immigration, Tourism, and Finance officials, were involved in the evaluation.
With a December 31st deadline looming, a decision is anticipated before the month’s end. Several Caribbean nations, including the Virgin Islands and Dominica, recently launched their ED card systems, joining others like Barbados, Jamaica, and St. Lucia.

One would think that getting feedback from the islands and territories that has implemented electronic ED systems would be included in the evaluations.
There us no need for that, we have the smartest dog in the world
Antigua should simply consult with any of the Caribbean nations like the Virgin Islands, Dominica, Barbados, Jamaica, or St. Lucia, as these islands have already implemented successful working models of the Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) Card system. There’s no need to complicate matters when these islands have proven methods in place.
