Antigua and Barbuda to appoint more honorary consuls

4

The Cabinet of Antigua & Barbuda agreed that it would seek to appoint Honorary Consuls in several of the CARICOM States, especially those where there are populations of Antigua and Barbuda citizens living.

The government says in the UWI Campus countries, for example, youthful citizens of Antigua and Barbuda live and study, but there is no diplomatic representation to which to turn should anything go wrong.

“Hence, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs within those states will be consulted with the intention of seeking out capable and respectable men and women to be Antigua and Barbuda Honorary Consuls,” said Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst.

  1. I am happy to hear this is finally happening. I can remember making that request that Antigua and Barbuda should have a consulate during the hurricane where Antigua students at UWI Mona Jamaica had no one to turn to or relay their messages and concerns back to the government. Individuals like myself had to call ministers of government to lend some assistance. So this is great news please make it happen.i must commend the government for that move.

  2. So who is the Council General or Honorary Council in New York Florida or the US Virgin Islands

  3. As long as we do a very proper due diligence, because we must not forget the honorary consuls appointed by the UPP such as the one from Brasil and China.
