Antigua and Barbuda Takes Strong Stand for Ceasefire in Israel/Hamas Conflict, Gains Widespread Support

Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, EP Chet Greene, expressed the country’s unwavering condemnation of violence in the Israel/Hamas conflict.

This stance prompted their support for a Jordanian resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Initially, a Canadian proposal stalled the resolution, but Antigua and Barbuda endorsed it when it reverted to the Jordanian version, emphasizing humanitarian truce.

Minister Greene stressed the need to halt the Gaza carnage, deeming Israel’s force disproportionate.

The country seeks a United Nations-compliant, long-term resolution, advocating for an immediate, sustainable humanitarian truce.

Notably, 119 nations voted in favor, including The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Antigua and Barbuda. Haiti abstained, while 14 nations opposed the resolution. Jamaica’s absence from the vote generated online criticism.

Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs Minister attributed this to ongoing consultations that did not conclude in time.

Minister Greene commended Ambassador Aubrey Webson and Sir Ron Sanders for their roles, with the matter being a significant topic in Caricom meetings.

  1. There is a saying that a sapling that grows under the shadow of a big tree, will always remain small…

  2. Antigua and Barbuda, Friends of ALL Enemy of NONE.
Hypocrisy is been displayed once again in the world today. Having lived so many years under the treat of a third world war breaking out, my only concern these days is for my children and their children’s children. We have seen many movies, were film makers trying to paint a picture of what the day after will look like. But we are really living the reality. Watching a country being bombed from the comfort of your living room is very normal these days. And listening to the casualties, with out without faces, makes you somehow immune for the suffering of people. I think the only one crying for human suffering if the Lord our God and his Jesus. For men these days have no empathy or compassion for their other human kind. Whether it’s a little baby or a grown man or woman. Ever since man was able to use the atomic bomb as a way to win a war it became clear to me that these values have no meaning in this world.
It takes the wrong man/woman to be in the wrong place and we will have a third world war. All we can therefore do, and maybe it is the best thing to do, is to pray to the Lord our God. That higher being that some of us believe in, to not ever let the situation arrive where we have, what I would call the perfect storm. No one should be afraid to die anymore. Cause dying seems to be part of life. Whether you die in a traffic accident or you die from a stray bullet, or you die from an illness, it doesn’t matter, one day you will die. What still is a mystery or just a believe for some, is what comes after life. As a Christian I believe in the Love of God and I believe that Jesus is his Son, who came and die for our sins. and it’s because of that believe I try to life according to his command. Love your neighbor. Love one another as I have loved you. Love your enemies. God is Love. And didn’t God said, vengeance is mine. So why would we always feel we need to take vengeance in our hand as if we are God to punish. Bless those who persecute you. Pray for your enemies.
I always say if Jesus didn’t teach it, it is not from God. And many church leaders and pastors I have listened to over the past weeks since the Gaza War started, preach war. They justify war and revenge. I cannot see any thing biblical in that. Yes the children of Israel are Gods chosen people, but that does not mean that their actions are and should always be supported. They where also the one that rejected the very same Jesus that walked amongst them. I will not come between God and his chosen people, but I will condemn and action from any men that is against the teaching of God, through his son Jesus Christ. He did not come as a military leader and started no rebellion among the Israelites to free them from the Romans. He preach to obey those in authority, to give Ceasar what is Ceasar’s.
Let us pray for World Peace in whatever shape or form. Let us pray for the wars all over the world to stop. And let us pray that mankind will finally learn to live together

  3. Hamas has terrorized both Palestinians and Israelites long enough. It’s time to drive them out of every crab hole and bring them to justice. Such inhumane people.
