Antigua and Barbuda has initiated aid for St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

This includes sending tarpaulins and providing US$100,000 worth of water.

Hurricane Beryl, a Category 4 storm, caused severe damage and displacement in both St. Vincent and Grenada. Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, reported widespread devastation in Carriacou and Petite Martinique, with Carriacou flattened within half an hour.

As of Monday afternoon, no injuries or deaths have been reported. The storm’s trajectory may also pose a threat to the southeastern US.

NBC Radio in St. Vincent and the Grenadines described extensive destruction, including roofs ripped off churches and schools, as regional communication infrastructure begins to fail.
