    • Stop being foolish and petty. Write simmering enlightening. You’re showing your level of reason and maturity, or lack thereof.

      • @Dave Ray…
I…Maria Browne-Bird-Browne who touts herself, as a progressive politician and family woman, should either #Stand_With_Megan, and boycott the “coronation of adulterous nature,” I’m sure, that as an astute politician who stands for the rights of women, especially, women of darker hues, that she must or would feel away about adultery, being a family woman as well.

Now, if she is attending and will be in the #Spot_Light, just wear a #Meghan_Matters wrist band, and be diplomatic, by dropping her name casually, at the tea and cocktail party’s. A Caribbean National could’ve being in Meghan’s place, since, the Caribbean was a part of Harry The Player’ Playground, Las Vegas, Hugh and allegedly Jeffery to Neverland too!
How would progressives like Maria feels in this case?
The British Tabloids and press have being brutal, relenting and unforgiving to this girl because, she’s #BLACK. Maria Browne-Bird-Browne, that as a BLACK WOMAN use her platform, to stand for BLACK WOMEN.
Please, none of this “time and place for everything!”
The #Next_Level requires actions, and not scripted reactions.
The #Next_Level requires a silent revolution!

        • Well Here C Edwards, Me thinks that you have a very distorted view of the situation of Meghan the British Tabloids and press. The problem is not because she is #BLACK as the ‘one drop’ rule is not exercised in the UK. in fact she doesn’t look ‘African’ at all. Everybody thought she was Latino, of Spanish extraction. The hair, the nose, the eyes and complexion, all Spanish.
But she certainly ain’t ‘black’. And what if she was ‘black’? she ain’t the first of African extraction to marry into the firm. We don’t judge the book by the cover, we read it. And one more thing, all the things that happened in “Neverland” was when it was owned by #BLACK man. It looks like the only colour is being dragged into something that should not be dragged into.

  1. Who is paying for this multitude of people to attend this silly ceremony? I hope it is not the Treasury and my taxes. What a HUGE waste of money!! Far more important things that could use this money than for Gaston, his wife and a pile of other people to go and watch Charlie get a bejeweled crown put on his head. We really have lost our direction here. What about helping LIAT workers pay their mortgages with this money?

    • You guys just don’t anything productive to do or say? Your thoughts changes nothing. Make a positive contribution, if you have the capacity.

  2. No media people to cover the contingent? Press freedom?

Trust me if it was up to me, I wold have gotten the soldiers with the darkest skin tone to drill along side.
    Why those light skin people?

    • Melchesidec, Dont worry my friend there are many Very dark soldiers in the British armed services. In fact there are many nationality from all over the world who will be marching and watching.

  3. So why the opposition do not convene parliament and take a vote of no confidence for the PM? People power,…..

  4. So what’s the point of getting independence from the British Crown if you’re gonna run back to them.

  5. It is enlightening to see the see the cross section of government bodies that will be represented at this once in a lifetime coronation. Antigua and Barbuda will remain in high regard at the British Empire. God bless the new king.
    Salut

  6. In these times of hardship and non-payment of salaries, back pay, millions owed by this government, we need this crowd to attend this ceremony that offers no benefit to Antigua and Barbuda? Why not let Rodney Williams and his wife go? Who is really paying for this wastage? Gaston Browne is seeking spotlight and relevance so there is no question why this clown will be going.

  7. “The United Kingdom Military is providing accommodations, meals and ground transportation for the ABDF contingent which is being handled by High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill as the Official Liaison”

  8. @Melchesidec – What is ur point? It’s not even our defense force in the picture

  9. What a waste on the public purse. Government clearly finds money for what it wants to do!!!!
Do you know how many merchants could be paid from that largesse?
    SHAME SHAME SHAME

  10. Are these #Black_People the planning, to protest the absence, of Meghan Markle, at the coronation, of adultery?
The British tabloids and Pinky’ Prople have vilified Meghan Markle, Harry and their family for one simple, yet complicated reason, she’s #BLACK just like this contingent.

    …Stand for something #Black People 🦶🏿
…Wear a wrist band which says #MEGAN MATTERS!
    …Start a #Silent_Revolution!
…Your government is now talking, linking with the motherland!
    …then, Stand_Firm! Stand_Steadfast!
    Stand_Strong!
…and, once again! Yet, again, and again!
…remember, Sir Vivian Richards and the South Africans
    …Stand_Up and say it #LOUD!
…Please, I beseech you! Make us proud!
…so, once again! We can say, at the end of the day,
    …SAY IT LOUD! I’m BLACK & I’m PROUD!
…it will definitely boost, your calls for #REPARATIONS.
…and, even let them know; fu sure! Fu shore!
…we’re serious of being a Republic Nation.
    …this son of #Mami_Wata & Dan Dada #Papa Elegba
…can tell, it PM Browne is serious,
    …not pretentious or mischievous
    …about, #LINKING with Africa!
    …just, remember the #GANGSTERS, OLIGARCHS and #SCAMMERS!

  11. Wow! More FORELOCK-TUGGING and DOFFING of the cap by grovelling and OBSEQUIOUS Antiguan officials – why do we still enjoy being deferential to these reprehensible royals?

  12. We seem like a country with lots of money and endless resources. If Buckingham Palace not paying for this and taxpayers are in fact footing the bill for this huge contingent, it is nothing less than exorbitant and wasteful. Would be nice for us to get a breakdown and total expenditure for this venture.

  13. It’s worth considering the bigger picture here
Antigua and Barbuda is one of only a few nations that has been invited to participate in a parade and carry our flag at a ceremony that will be watched by hundreds of millions worldwide. You can’t buy publicity like that.

    • That’s right @ Kaz, the royal watchers will be gleeful, and those people who know their historic past will be frowning that people from the Commonwealth countries (bar Barbados) are still kowtowing to these royal SPONGERS and FREELOADERS after centuries of subservience.

So sad, however there’s light on the horizon after a recent UK poll has shown that their younger generation see today’s monarchy as a total irrelevance.

So the future looks bright for Republicanism 😁

      • And furthermore, I’ve just read an article that informs us in a poll, that Antiguans would ditch the king if a referendum was held here. Fantastic news!

I hope Gaston Browne heard about the results of this poll as well …

        • Dear Brixtonian, I very much respect your view and opinion.
However the apparent poll of 4077 adults in the Caribbean Nations contacted, represents less than 1% of those populations.
If and when Antigua and Barbuda chooses a referendum on Republican status, I will vote and respect the democratic outcome.
As it stands right now I think it’s unwise to underestimate the power of the media at an event that has the ability to fuel our tourism sector as we slide into quieter season. And as you correctly note, Barbados isn’t there.

          • & Kaz, I really enjoy constructive criticism and debate.

We can agree or disagree on any subject, and I thoroughly endorse anyone who can have a reasonable discourse without resorting to vile vilification to anyone with a different view.

            Much respect!

Brixtonian raising the bar – as usual- for good debates.

    • Sadly, not everyone had the ability to see the big picture. It’s called having vision. Without a vision, people will perish. Trust our Prime Minister to always have vision.

      • Like Gaston’s vision with Antigua Airways and the wealthy Africans. Or YIDA? Or WISEZ?

  14. This is so embarrassing to and me as a black woman, a decendent of slaves. It’s like me singing praise to my rapist. What is wrong with us people? I hope they are transported in a bus like the African leaders at the ole ooman funeral. I need my pension please. Thanks very much.

    • Before you start shouting about slaves look at the facts each one of the 2 million slaves transported by the British were sold by African Kings, may be we should ask the African Kings for reparation? The British were the first to outlaw slavery and lost 15-20 thousand sailors fighting and stop other countries transporting slaves. The British freed an estimated 250 thousand slaves from these slavery tyrants. Learn to read you’re history and not make it up.

      • Welcome to the debating circle @ Christina Harvey (whether we disagree or not), the more the merrier – I say – , sensible and differing viewpoints and opinions on ANR threads raises the bar for those with INTELLECT and makes the IGNORANT either run for the hills or disappear without trace …

  15. THIS IS HOW A COUNTRY DEMONSTRATES ITS SERIOUSNESS BECOMING A REPUBLIC…BUNCK OF JOKERS

  16. Really @Pelle? By this exorbitant wastage? When people are hungry, cannot get paid, are owed back pay? When institutions, including our lone hospital, can not get basic supplies, clinics are shuttered due to derelict conditions, forcing seniors to journey to distant places to get routine medical check ups? You are speaking of becoming a republic? You guys will say anything to defend a party and to country be damned. Really the reason why our country is in such a condition.
