Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs, Hon. Samantha Marshall and Permanent Secretary, Colin O’Keiffe, represented Antigua and Barbuda at the Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) 37th Regional Conference of the Americas in Quito, Ecuador which started 28 March and concludes 1 April 2022.

The regional conference is held biannually and brings together the governments of the 33 Member States of FAO in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish regional priorities of the Organization for the next biennium.

Hon. Samantha Marshall’s speech focused on the major challenges faced in the agriculture sector and the government policies put in place to solve them.

These conferences provide a wider obligation to report, update and engage international partners as they seek to improve objectives domestically, regionally and internationally.

The Delegation within the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Barbuda Affairs  watched the conference virtually.
