Antigua and Barbuda placed on UK Green list

11

BBC-The Balearic Islands, Malta, Madeira and Barbados are among the places being added to the UK government’s green list, the transport secretary has said.

From 04:00 on 30 June, people entering the UK from these places do not have to quarantine, Grant Shapps confirmed.

He also said there were plans to allow quarantine-free travel from amber list countries for people who were fully vaccinated.

Six destinations have been added to the government’s red list.

However, the prospect of European holidays could face another hurdle after German Chancellor Angela Merkel suggested all EU countries should make British travellers quarantine on arrival to slow the spread of the Delta variant.
The destinations added to the green list from 04:00 BST on 30 June are:

■ Anguilla
■ Antigua and Barbuda

■ The Balearic Islands (which include Ibiza, Menorca, Majorca and Formentera)
■ Barbados
■ Bermuda
■ British Antarctic Territory
■ British Indian Ocean Territory
■ British Virgin Islands

■ Cayman Islands
■ Dominica
■ Grenada
■ Madeira
■ Malta
■ Montserrat
■ Pitcairn Islands
■ Turks and Caicos Islands
The places added to the red lists for the same time are:
■ Dominican Republic
■ Eritrea
■ Haiti
■ Mongolia
■ Tunisia
■ Uganda

Those travelling to the UK from these countries will need to quarantine in a hotel for 10 days.

Mr Shapps tweeted it was the government’s intention that “later in the summer” UK residents who were fully vaccinated would no longer have to self-isolate after travelling from amber list countries.

He said the government would set out details of this next month.

  1. That explains the no cases / no deaths / for the past 2 weeks then.

So they manipulated the figures to get us on the green list….but people don’t believe they’ve manipulated the figures to get people to take the lethal cocktail…

Drop the masks. Drop the curfew! Give us back our freedom as HUMANS!

    • Lord give me strength.

      Lemme guess…..
Rain not coming…..The government told the rain not to come too right?

      Gimme a break.

    • @ I-Man do you have anything of substance to contribute . This is why sometimes I choose not to read the comments section .
Rainy day UPP , Sunny day UPP , Sex during and after it’s UPP fault .
everything and every breath UPP and they say we’re the most intelligent species news flash not always shuups .

      • Boo hoo hoo. You guys must live miserable lives! When things improve it’s because of manipulation. When things get worse we raise a toast!, Your lack of credibility and hatred of country are so evident to all decent, sensible and loyal citizens of Antigua! Shame on you!

  2. A word of caution: the UK has the highest rates of infection of the Delta(Indian) variant in Europe.
Germany & Italy restrict UK arrivals for that reason.

    Please mask, sanitize, distance
    & consider vaccination.
We do not have the medical or economic or social support capacities to handle an outbreak of the Delta variant.
The pandemic continues – don’t be fooled by our couple of zero infection math-massage weeks, which are miraculous considering % of fully vaccinated Nationals.

Live life….responsibly! so we can get the economy on track sustainably without more hiatus.

    • Antigua does have the resource to handle the delta variant! It is vaccination!
The UK tests 3x more people than other European countries that is why the number of +ve’s is high! Only 1% of the +ve’s are admitted to hospital! That = a tiny number of the population.
The key point is hospitalisations are very low! In the UK we have more hospitals than people in hospital with a +ve COVID test!
Vaccinated people in the UK are either showing no symptoms or mild symptoms. Deaths of vaccinated people with COVID are due to other ailments!
Please for your own safety get the Vaccine! The huge UK numbers show it is both safe and effective!

  3. U.K. might have put Antigua on Green list but you have us quarantine for at least 7 days, so can’t see an upsurge in visitor from U.K.

    • Is that right? I didn’t think we needed to quarantine when visiting Antigua from the UK? We are fully vaccinated with both doses and will be taking a PCR test before arriving late July. Based on the Antigua Governments website, I can’t see anywhere it says we need to quarantine when visiting form the UK. Where does it state this?

    • Tourist. Thank you for your comment. Currently A&B has a TOURIST FLEXIBILITY NOTICE at the very bottom of our guidelines which allow arrivals with neg PCR tests to holiday in SUN SEA SAFE Certified Accommodations (air BnB, hotels, inns, resorts) and move about freely while adhering to our island-wide mask, sanitize & distance protocols.

Please contact the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority with any questions you may have & for a list of certified properties.

We hope to welcome you to your space in the sun this summer!

  4. Antigua and Barbuda….green light, red light…no matter what, DO NOT LET YOUR GUARD DOWN!!! Fully vaccinated tourists from UK, Canada or USA can carry the virus!!! We are scheduled to arrive September 12 and will be where our masked “everywhere”!!! We aren’t taking any chances (even though fully vaccinated)…neither should you!!!
