Antigua and Barbuda Livestock Farmers to Benefit from Price Reductions on Animal Feeds

Livestock farmers in Antigua and Barbuda are among those who will benefit immediately as the leading animal feed exporter in the sub-region announces significant price reductions on its East Caribbean feeds brand.

The East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) has announced the decision to lower prices on animal feeds by up to 10 percent.

This move has been welcomed by Agriculture Minister, Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, who acknowledged the positive impact it will have on local farmers.

Chief Executive Officer of ECGC, J. Robert Cato, explained the reasons behind the price cut. “We’re happy to do these price reductions and the price reductions on our animal feeds is really ECGC’s way of showing our solid support for farmers’ success across the region,” Cato said. “We’re able to do this through a combination of market intelligence, data-driven grain procurement on the futures market, which allows us to acquire grain in a much more cost-effective way, and by improving the efficiencies at our feed milling plants.”

This initiative is expected to provide immediate relief to farmers and support the agriculture sector by making high-quality animal feeds more affordable.
