The search for a new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Antigua and Barbuda has begun after Anthony Armstrong’s departure. He faces criminal charges in Jamaica.
Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin confirmed that applications for the position are being submitted.
Armstrong retired in December 2022 after being found guilty of professional misconduct for selling properties without his client’s consent.
Shannon Jones-Gittens, acting in the role, will not apply due to personal obligations.
The DPP plays a crucial role in the country’s justice system, responsible for prosecuting criminal cases and upholding the rule of law.
The selection process involves a thorough review of applications, interviews, and assessments.

I guess the acting DPP don’t want to be confirmed after being inside and have to deal with the Attorney General. Diplomatic excuse!
I do not blame the decent young lady.
Anthony Armstrong’s tenure as DPP was tarnished by the fact ABLB comprised him from the very beginning.
In spite of the idea of separation of the Branches of Government, Mr. Armstrong functioned at the dictates and wishes of ALBP which makes a mockery of the constitution.
CORRUPTION AND DECENCY IS LIKE OIL AND WATER, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU TRY THEY WILL NEVER MERGE. FAR TOO LONG WE BEEN MISLABELING PEOPLE IN THIS LAND. DOGSHIT IS DOGSHIT NO AMOUNT OF CALLING IT A STEAK WILL MAKE IT A STEAK, IT WILL ALWAYS BE WHAT IT IS. SIMPLY DOGSHIT.
