Antigua and Barbuda are setting the stage for an exhilarating year of sailing with the launch of the Antigua Racing Cup, a brand-new regatta designed for racing purists, taking place April 9–12, 2026. The four-day event promises high-adrenaline coastal racing in world-class conditions and will kick off an action-packed month of competitive sailing leading up to the iconic Antigua Sailing Week, which returns April 22–26, 2026.

Organized by the Antigua and Barbuda Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation, and Investment, the Antigua Racing Cup is designed to offer sailors and spectators an immersive, high-energy racing experience. Featuring four days of intense, close-to-shore competition, the regatta takes advantage of steady trade winds, warm temperatures, and stunning southern coastlines that make Antigua one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after sailing destinations.

“The Antigua Racing Cup is for those on tight schedules who want a fast, focused, and fiercely fun regatta,” said Race Manager Jaime Torres. “Having two separate events, each with a narrower focus, allows us to deliver a more enriching yachting experience for every type of sailor.”

While the Racing Cup brings the thrill, Antigua Sailing Week returns to its roots with scenic, point-to-point cruising courses that conclude each day at a different breathtaking destination. The event is designed for a diverse mix of participants—from casual cruisers to competitive sailors—making it one of the most anticipated regattas in the region.

Off the water, English Harbour will be buzzing with activity, offering live music, cultural showcases, themed parties, and local food and craft vendors. Visitors can expect a festival-like atmosphere that highlights Antigua’s world-renowned hospitality.

“This new strategic direction came after consulting with stakeholders and the local community,” said Minister of Tourism Charles “Max” Fernandez. “By introducing the Antigua Racing Cup and reimagining Antigua Sailing Week, we’re creating an unforgettable month that caters to both dedicated racers and social cruisers while celebrating our rich maritime traditions.”

April 2026 promises an unmatched celebration of sailing, featuring the Antigua Racing Cup, Antigua Sailing Week, and the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta. Registration and full schedules for both main events will be available soon at antiguaracingcup.com
