The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party has scheduled a primary election for December 8 to choose a candidate for the St. John’s Rural West constituency. Five individuals, namely Shawn Benjamin, Russhell Ellis, Michael Joseph, Aziza Lake, and Kevin Morgan, have expressed interest in the position.

The Central Executive of the party will assess the suitability of prospective candidates and approve the candidate or a list of candidates for the primary election at the constituency level.

This primary election is open to registered party members of the constituency who have maintained good financial standing for at least twelve consecutive weeks before the election, and each member can cast one vote.

The primary election will take place at the Multi-Purpose Cultural Centre, and the party’s internal Supervisor of Elections will provide at least twenty-eight days’ notice prior to the poll. Additional details will be announced soon.

  1. You’re getting desperate, Gaston. You’re sending 4 young men and a woman to try to unseat the rep there.

You really need another seat bad. So you think that will be the one. Everybody knows you already selected the one you want: Michael Joseph. There will be no primary, and even if you have one, you will not let the one who wins be the candidate if that is not who you choose.

Stop using the young people like that, Gaston. Yes, it worked in Rural East years ago. This is not 2018. Times are changing. You can huff and you can puff, but yuh nar get Rural West.

  2. What primary, there’s going to be no such thing. A winner has already been chosen. There’s absolutely no democracy in that cult called the ALP.

  3. The labour party is a big joke.

Look at these clowns saying they want to represent people.

gaston have done a good job of ruining the party.

Get out of here you idiots.

  4. Bring it on.For we the people of that Constituency are going to use you all as mops to wipe the floor with. Are there 4 men and one woman in the above photo.
