Antigua and Barbuda is joining the rest of the globe in observing World Autism Awareness Day today.

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on April 2 every year, encouraging Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about people with autistic spectrum disorders including autism and Asperger syndrome throughout the world.

The Pediatric Department at the Mount St. John Medical Centre (MSJMC) will be raising awareness by hosting a number of activities throughout the coming days.

Head of the Pediatric Department at MSJMC, Dr. Shivon Belle-Jarvis was happy to share one of the art pieces at the hospital in recognition of the day.

Dr. Belle-Jarvis says the colors represent the uniqueness of each person and when put together, irrespective of ability, each fit together perfectly.
