Antigua and Barbuda Initiates Talks with Qatar for Natural Gas Investment

Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, has initiated discussions with Qatar about potential investments in the nation’s natural gas sector.

During a meeting with the new Qatari Ambassador, Yaser Awad Al-Abdulla, Prime Minister Browne proposed the idea of establishing an LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal in Antigua and Barbuda.

With most Caribbean cruise ships transitioning to LNG power, such a terminal is vital.

The Prime Minister also explored the possibility of student exchanges between Middle Eastern universities and the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.

Qatar expressed commitment to assisting in hosting the Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) conference.

  1. By the law of averages, our Prime Minister MUST get something right.

    This could be groundbreaking for the country.

    All we ask is for 3 things to go in YOUR favour:

    1) Do due diligence and being cost effective

    2) Do not ignore the Barbudan’s in this enterprise

    3) And the timescale must have a COMPLETION date and all work/construction must be MONITORED from beginning to the end.
